Job listing teases new game based in Valorant universe

Job listings at Riot Games may have revealed Riot’s next game title in the Valorant universe.

Riot Games’ Los Angeles studio has created listings for several positions for an “Unpublished R&D Product.”

One of these roles originally called for “Familiarity with the Valorant IP”, according to The Game Post, before that detail was removed from the listing.

Despite the change to the listing, the roles are still visible on Riot’s ‘Work With Us’ page on their website.

The listed roles include Art Director, Marketing Creative Direction Director, Principal Game Designer, and several other roles.

The game’s genre is, for now, unconfirmed; however, purported leaker ‘PlayerIGN’ has claimed that the ‘MMO-FPS’ had a Closed Playtest, which revealed it to be an Extraction FPS based on the Valorant IP.

Will the new Valorant game have an esports scene?

It is not the first time that Riot’s job listings have been a source of information regarding Valorant games in development.

Valorant mobile’s (for now, exclusively Chinese) esports scene was revealed earlier in the year through a Tencent job listing.

The job called for an esports coordinator to have responsibilities in event creation, promotion, publicity, and production.

There is no dedicated esports role listed for the game as of yet, but such a role would typically be created further into development if the game is an esports title.

In any case, Riot have been busy fleshing out 2XKO’s esports scene with the game recently entering Early Access.

The tag-team fighting game has been supported by several prize pools provided by Riot for various Fighting Games Community events.

The first of these events was EVO France 2025, where Marwan ‘Wawa’ Berthe won $2,000 for finishing in first place in the 2XKO side tournament.

The move reflects Riot’s typical emphasis on esports, where its properties are among the most popular in the world.

League of Legends, Valorant, and Teamfight Tactics all have strong esports scenes, with parent company Tencent also owning esports properties such as Honor of Kings.

Whether Riot’s take on Extraction Shooters will be esports-friendly will be fascinating to see if the rumours are accurate.
