LoL Worlds song delayed to edit out Bwipo after sexist remarks

Riot Games has announced that the release of this year’s LoL Worlds official song music video has been delayed.

This is so the publishers can edit the animated music video to no longer include FlyQuest top-laner Gabriël ‘Bwipo’ Rau.

The decision comes after Bwpio was suspended for making sexist comments about women and menstruation.

Though the suspension is over and Bwipo will compete at the international League of Legends tournament.

The official Worlds 2025 anthem will be performed by Chinese music superstar G.E.M and Italian electronic music artist Anyma.

The song, assumed to be called ‘The Kingdom Comes’, was supposed to be released on Friday, October 10th.

However, the music video has been delayed, according to this statement from Riot:

“The Worlds Music Video will now launch on October 13, a few days later than originally planned.

“Bwipo was featured in the original cut, but given his recent comments, we decided it wouldn’t be right to showcase him in a piece that represents LoL Esports, pro players, and fans.”

Due to the complex animations these videos typically entail, Riot has announced this year’s MV won’t include any Americas representatives:

“Editing [Bwipo]him out required significant changes during the final stages of production, and because he was the player representing the Americas, that region will not appear in this year’s video as originally intended.

“This was not part of any sanction or competitive ruling, but a decision about how we represent our sport and community on a global stage.”

Riot did not clarify whether the Worlds song itself has been delayed too, or if that will still be released on streaming platforms come October 10th.

What sexist comments did Bwipo make?

While streaming on Twitch earlier this year, Bwipo bizarrely started talking about women’s periods.

During the stream, he said:

“When a woman is on the wrong time of the month to play competitively… there’s a time of the month where you should not be f*cking playing competitive games as a woman, this is my opinion.”

As well as suggesting women can’t compete in esports because of ‘mood shifts,’ Bwipo also suggested that women make secondary menstruation accounts.

During the stream, Bwpio insisted his ideas were “realistic solutions.”

Due to these remarks, Bwipo was suspended by FlyQuest for one of their LTA Summer Playoff series.

The Belgian was also fined, with all of his LTA prize money awarded to charities which support women in gaming.
