British Valorant star Jake ‘Boaster’ Howlett has gone viral once again.
The Fnatic in-game leader has a diehard fan base with many fans loving the K-pop-inspired dances he pulls out before playing on stage.
And unsurprisingly, these dances occasionally earn Boaster some celebrity attention.
It’s been an excellent month for Boaster who recently helped Fnatic become Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) EMEA Stage 1 champions and qualify for Valorant Masters Toronto.
During his walkout before stepping onto the stage, Boaster performed some choreography from BINI’s song Zero Pressure, as first teased in our recent interview with Boaster, the Fnatic star confirmed he also has an even bigger routine planned for Toronto.
The dance has been seen by millions online with 1.5m views on X (formerly Twitter) and another 500k on TikTok.
Unsurprisingly, Boaster’s moves have now also caught the attention of Filipino girl group BINI (pronounced bee-knee) and their members who have well over 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Both lead vocalist ‘Gwen’ and main rapper ‘Mikha’ posted their approval on X (formerly Twitter) with Gwen sending a flurry of fire emojis while Mikha told Boaster he “slayed.”
The official BINI X account also sent their support to Boaster and Fnatic, wishing them luck in the future.
This isn’t the first time the Fnatic star has gone viral. A clip of Boaster singing in Mandarin has now racked up over 5.6m views on Chinese video sharing website Bilibili.
Almost 2 million people on TikTok have also watched Boaster dance with rapper and singer Mark Tuan as well as Julie and Natty from K-Pop group Kiss of Life.
They danced to Superpower, the official Valorant Champions 2024 theme, of which the music video features a cameo from the Fnatic star, though Boaster was first immortalised in the animated music video for Fire Again, the VCT 2022 theme featuring Ashnikko.
Boaster has even released a song of his own, providing rap verses for ‘Comeback’ by with San Francisco-based musician Derivakat. The song was labelled as Fnatic’s 2024 anthem.
In my seven years of esports writing, I’ve introuduced esports coverage to newspapers, interviewed some of the biggest names in the industry, and driven viewers mad with the puns in my YouTube scripts. I’m most proud of the latter.
