EGX 2023 will be hosting a few esports tournaments at Excel London from October 12th to 15th, each with £5,000 prize pools at the EGX Arena.
Bandai Namco’s Tekken 7 Major Esports Tournament at EGX 2023
EGX parent company ReedPop has announced an official Tekken 7 tournament at EGX 2023.
With a prize pool of £5,000, fighters will battle it out on stage to prove their strength.
As one of two major events for the UK and Ireland Championship, two of the best players will also qualify for the European Tekken Cup.
Organisers say it’s the first time since the pandemic that EGX will host a ‘major’ esports tournament.
The event will be taking place on Saturday October 14th 2023 from 4pm-8pm and Sunday October 15th from 12pm-5pm.
The news comes a few months before Tekken 8 launches at the end of January 2024.
Previous Tekken esports winners at EGX include UK player and streamer KingJae, who won back in 2016.
EGX 2023 to host Almost Pro Street Fighter 6 Tournament
An official Almost Pro Street Fighter 6 tournament will take place at EGX 2023.
Through collaboration with Capcom, a prize pool of £5,000 will be up for grabs.
The tournament will be held from Friday 12pm until Saturday 4pm BST, giving any eager competitors ample opportunity to sharpen their skills and show everyone that they are the best fighter at EGX.
The tournament will be livestreamed on the EGX Arena Twitch channel.
In early July, a month after Street Fighter 6’s launch, Capcom announced that the game had sold over 2m copies.
Last year, a host of esports tournaments took place at EGX 2022 including in Guilty Gear Strive, Splitgate, Rocket League, Street Fighter V, Valorant, Multiversus and even GoldenEye.

TikTok partners with EGX 2023 as creators hold meet and greets

TikTok will be the headline partner of the event, as the social media platform and EGX create fan experiences throughout the show, with attendees and creators able to visit the TikTok Lounge.
Fans will be given the opportunity to meet their favourite creators including Nick and Cam, Charlotte Murphy, Callum Knight and more to be announced.
TikTok partnered creators will be venturing out across the show floor at EGX, checking out all the major stands and creating moments to share with their followers.

TikTok gaming hashtags are proving to be popular on the platform, such as #Gaming (488bn views), #GamingOnTikTok (60bn views), #GamingSetup (15.6bn views) and #GamingLife (9.2bn views).
What else is happening at EGX 2023?
EGX 2023 will offer players the chance to play the latest games, attend panels, talks and sessions from the industry and discover indie games in the Rezzed Zone and The Leftfield Collection.
Fans will also be able to visit the GI Academy for career advice from industry experts, and watch or take part in the returning EGX Cosplay Championship and various esports tournaments taking place over the four days, as mentioned above.

A now-annual Sea of Thieves panel will see developers and fans converging to celebrate and discuss Rare’s pirate game. Fans can also meet Sea of Thieves content creators after the panel, including Behaving Beardly, Spammals, YooKay, MotherOfChickens, Foxdle, MicroMads and Beardageddon.
There will also be a panel to mark 25 years of beloved platformer Banjo-Kazooie, with fans able to hear from speakers Grant Kirkhope (composer), Chris Sutherland (lead programmer and voice artist), Steve Mayles (Senior Artist), and Ed Bryan (character artist and animator).
On October 12th, veteran games developer and Fable creator Peter Molyneux will be a part of a fireside chat looking back at one of the most acclaimed games of his career: Fable 2.
Session Zero will also be returning to EGX for a Dungeons and Dragons improv performance.
On EGX’s opening day, The Dark Room will be heading to the EGX theatre for people to take on the text-based video game IRL in an interactive live-action video game experience. In addition to this, visitors can learn from Benni Hill and David Housden at the World Building through Music and Narrative panel.
