The Scottish Esports League 5 (SEL5) finals are taking place in Dundee this weekend, and for the first time the title sponsor is Irn-Bru Energy.
Irn-Bru is of course Scotland’s popular soft drink synonymous with Scottish culture. While it has been involved with the events in the past, this is the first time AG Barr’s Irn-Bru brand is the main title sponsor.
Scotland’s largest competitive esports showcase will take place on the main stage of Dundee and Angus College’s Gardyne Theatre this weekend, with £15,000 in prizes up for grabs.
Some competitors in the UK taking part include Markydooda, STVNcrdbl, Calzafy and more, as well as orgs like Skelp, Brave Esports, Legates and Temperate.
SEL5 opened its doors at 12pm today (Friday November 18th) and also will run on Saturday November 19th.
Friday features the LAN finals for:
- League of Legends (12:30pm – 4:30pm)
- CSGO (5:30pm – 9:30pm)
Saturday features the finals for:
- Guilty Gear Strive (12:30pm – 2:30pm)
- Rocket League (3:30pm – 5:30pm)
- Valorant (6:30pm – 10:30pm)
James Hood, CEO of Esports Scotland, said “We are delighted to continue our strong partnership and really appreciate the support of one of Scotland’s strongest brands. Irn-Bru Energy’s support means that we are able to keep the Scottish Esports event of the year free, once again. This means a huge amount to us as we exist to support the development of Esports across Scotland from grassroots, through education to professional level.”
“It’s our biggest and best event yet. With a prize pot of £15,000 and a theatre that seats 400 on each day – we’re excited to host yet another great gaming event in Dundee – and with the power of Irn-Bru Energy we’ll have even more buzz going on across the Friday and Saturday.”

Adrian Troy, marketing director at AG Barr, added: “We are very excited to be partnering again with the team at Esports Scotland. We can’t wait to see the top Esports teams, that Scotland has to offer, battle it out at SEL5 powered by Irn-Bru Energy.”
The event’s official legal partner is Blackadders, a law firm with offices throughout Scotland.
Kirk Dailly, partner at Blackadders, commented: “We are excited to support SEL5 as official legal partner. Esports is booming across the globe and the opportunities it presents for those working across the wider creative industries, media and education, are huge. James and his team at Esports Scotland are flying the flag in this country and we can’t wait for what is sure to be an action-packed couple of days.”
