Tundra Esports qualify for The International 2022

London-based esports organisation Tundra Esports will be participating in this year’s premier Dota 2 esports competition: The International (TI) 2022.

They qualified via the Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) after narrowly missing out last year. They’re the ninth team to qualify for The International from the competition, having racked up 1,212 DPC points.

Tundra join the likes of PSG.LGD, OG, Thunder Awaken, Team Spirit, Boom Esports, Team Aster, TSM and Beastcoast at the major competition.

The International takes place in Singapore this year from October 15th to 30th.

While it’s good news for Tundra, they haven’t been performing that well at the current Arlington Major, where they are in last place of Group B with four wins and ten losses.

Last year’s prize pool at The International was just over $40m, and the event was won by Team Spirit.

Tundra’s Dota 2 roster features a mix of nationalities:

  • Skiter (Slovakia)
  • Nine (Germany)
  • 33 (Isreal)
  • Saksa (North Macedonia)
  • Sneyking (USA)
  • Coach: Aui_2000 (Canada)

Earlier this year, Tundra signed former OG player Saksa to complete their Dota 2 roster and named Sneyking as their captain following Fata’s departure.

Anthony Graham, Tundra’s co-founder and esports and operations director, said at the time: “Ultimately our goal is to make it to The International and that will only happen with team synergy. Saksa brings a wealth of experience to the team and we’re hoping he can take us to the next level.”

Tundra’s move worked, and now their sights are set on Singapore, where fans have bemoaned Valve’s increased ticket prices. Tickets for the finals will each cost just under £300 (498 Singapore Dollars).

Tundra have been making plenty of headlines lately. Just over a week ago, a Guild and Tundra duo won the Gamers8 Fortnite Zero Build tournament, and Tundra Esports announced Virgil van Dijk as ambassador and shareholder in music video to gaming grime song ‘Outplayed’ by P Money.

In other UK Dota 2 news, the UK Home Nations did well in at the Commonwealth Esports Championships on the weekend, which featured Dota 2 tournaments. Esports England won a silver medal in the open and women’s Dota 2 tournaments.
