EA’s Madden NFL American football franchise is one of its longest-running and popular sports series, especially in the States.

But the launch of Madden 21 this year has not been as well-received as previous entries in the franchise.

While the release of Madden NFL 21 resulted in a year-on-year sales rise of 20 per cent, fans were not happy after playing it. Madden 21 has an average review score of 63 on Metacritic and a user score of 0.2.

Critics say the game hasn’t been updated enough and the franchise mode is dull.

Some players also bet on Madden esports and physical sport matches, to add a different dimension to following Madden.

When it comes to placing a bet, the NFL game odds indicate that some teams unlikely have what it takes to go all the way, since they have consistently failed to take the necessary chances with the ball. However, avoiding interception has facilitated a high percentage of completed passes and they have benefited from a stronger defense in general.

To address fan criticism, the game’s developers have been releasing regular scheduled updates.

The latest dev notes address usability and stability issues in the game.

Franchise updates include:

  • Fixed an issue with users playing as a HB receiving temporary ratings boosts for QB related ratings
  • Fixed an issue with some abilities appearing twice in the edit player screen

There are several gameplay and bug fixes that are being rolled out, but is it all too little, too late from EA now that the damage has been done?
