Korean indie studio Team Samoyed has launched Teamfight Manager 2 into Steam Early Access, and it is a surprisingly detailed esports management sim built around a fictional MOBA.
The game puts you in charge of a virtual esports organisation, handling everything from scouting and signing talent to setting tactics, managing bans and picks, and negotiating contracts. Matches are structured around a full MOBA format with Top, Jungle, Mid, Bot, and Support roles, with wins coming from destroying the enemy Nexus. The actual gameplay itself is inspired by the autobattler genre, where players and their picks proceed through the game following orders, battling over objectives and other features you would expect from a MOBA map.
The other notable thing about the game is the managerial side of things. It has some algorithms built in, similar to the likes of F1 Manager and other team management games. Players have stats alongside a simulated ranked solo queue to give you a feel for player form, practice habits, and other factors that might inform your decisions on who to sign for your roster going forward. There’s also familiar names features in the trailer, like IgNar, Mowgli in the game too.
The game has launched into early access, and right now it has mixed reviews on Steam. The original game released in 2021 has very positive reviews, floating around 83%, so chances are the devs will greatly improve it over time.
The sequel builds significantly on the original Teamfight Manager, adding dozens of new champions alongside returning ones, a deeper tactics system, and Steam Workshop support so the community can create and share their own champions, maps, teams, and tournaments. You can check out the game via the Steam store link.
At Early Access launch the core gameplay loop, full champion roster, team management systems, and an online league mode are all in. Team Samoyed plans to keep adding champions, expanding management features, and refining balance throughout the Early Access period based on community feedback.
It is not the first of its kind to release, with Esports Team Manager also appearing on Steam last year. It features UK teams like Bulldog and Verdant, among other organisations and players you might recognise.
