T1 have announced that Lee ‘Gumayusi’ Min-hyeong will leave the organisation, stating that the player had “left T1 to embark on a new challenge.”
The move follows a rollercoaster year for the bot laner, who had been benched in favour of Shin ‘Smash’ Geum-jae early in the year.
Despite that, Gumayusi departs as a Worlds three-time champion and the MVP of the 2025 Worlds Final, which secured T1 their famous threepeat.

Legendary piece of T1 core departs
T1’s bot laner leaves the organisation as a three-time Worlds champion, featuring in the last four Worlds Finals, and winning the MVP award at Worlds 2025.
The announcement follows the expiration of Gumayusi’s contract with the organisation, with no official word on whether re-signing was negotiated or what terms were discussed.
Gumayusi is the second piece of T1’s legendary ‘DOFGK’ roster to depart, following top laner Choi ‘Zeus’ Woo-je, who left in November 2024 who also left immediately after Worlds victory.
The sentiment surrounding the struggling roster was that Gumayusi no longer fit with the meta and that Smash’s champion pool was more suitable.
However, Gumayusi was restored to the rostered to the active roster in March of 2024, following intervention from CEO Joe Marsh.
T1’s form recovered despite being overshadowed by Gen.G for much of the year, finishing runners-up at MSI and finishing the LCK with the join second-best series record, at 20-10.
Despite that, T1 once again weaved their magic as they won their third consecutive Worlds, cementing the roster’s legacy.
In playoffs especially, Gumayusi once again came alive alongside his OFGK brethren, having huge impact on the server in victories against AL, TES, and KT Rolster.
The display against KT earned Gumayusi the Worlds Finals MVP Award, which he received from LoL Hall of Famer, Jian ‘Uzi’ Zihao.

Who could replace Gumayusi at T1?
According to Sheep Esports, Kim ‘Peyz’ Su-hwan is expected to take the spot in the roster.
The 19-year-old three-time LCK Champion was left without a team in the LCK following his removal from Gen.G in November 2024.
As a result, the Korean was scooped up by JD Gaming for the 2025 season, missing out on Worlds 2025 following a Regional Finals loss to Invictus Gaming.
The South Korean Bot Laner, who won the LCK for the first time at only 17 years of age, is expected to take his place in bot alongside T1’s Support maestro, Ryu ‘Keria’ Min-seok.
Despite his young age, Peyz is one of only 34 players to reach 1000 kills in the LCK, becoming the 27th player to do so in 2024.
Other names linked to the organisation include Gen.G’s Park ‘Ruler’ Jae-hyuk, who replaced Peyz at Gen.G, and HLE’s Park ‘Viper’ Do-hyeon, as the entire team is out of contract.
