Caitlyn 2XKO kit and release date officially revealed

League of Legends-based fighter 2XKO by Riot Games is adding yet another character from Arcane in Caitlyn.

She joins Jinx, Vi, Ekko, and Warwick as champions from the Netflix series that are now in the fighting game.

Caitlyn was already confirmed to be coming to the game; now her moves and release date have been confirmed.

Caitlyn has been confirmed to release with the start of Season 1 on Tuesday, January 20th – a week from now.

This is part of Riot Games’ promise to release five new 2XKO champions in 2026, one for each season.

This will also be when 2XKO finally comes to consoles, as it will be released on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S when the new season starts.

The Season 1 update will drop for FGC fans in the United Kingdom at 1 AM GMT on January 21st.

Caitlyn’s 2XKO gameplay and movelist is pretty much what you would expect.

She will want to zone opponents and stay at range while repeatedly firing shots with her sniper rifle.

Just like in LoL, she can place down traps – topped with a cupcake in tribute to her nickname for Vi – and knock enemies into them.

And most interestingly is one of Caitlyn’s specials sees her deploy a shield which slowly moves towards the opponent.

Caitlyn can shoot through this shield to empower her shots with electricity, seemingly up to a maximum of three times.

Many seasoned members of the FGC were quick to point out that the move is similar to the Aegis Reflector move of Street Fighter’s Urien.

What to expect from 2XKO in 2026

As mentioned earlier, 2XKO will launch on consoles and start Season 1 next week.

As well as expanding the game’s roster of LoL champions, Riot Games also has big esports plans for 2XKO.

Multiple events took place last year which saw big FGC names compete like DominiqueĀ ‘SonicFox’Ā McLean and William ‘Leffen’ Hjelte.

The FGC will have no shortage of events to compete in as Riot is partnering with multiple tournament organisers.

The 2026 competitive series will see a total of 20 global 2XKO esports hosted by partnered organisations and sanctioned by Riot.

Each in-game season will feature three Challenger events and a LAN Major, leading to five Majors and 15 Challenger events overall.

To boost the prize pools and help fund these events, the Frame Perfect line of 2XKO skins will see a portion of profits go to tournament organisers.
