As the Budapest Major enters the Playoffs Stage, eliminated and non-participating teams have begun their CS2 roster updates ahead of the 2026 competitive calendar. This includes suggested signings for the new 100 Thieves roster.
Which roster changes have occurred in the days following the StarLadder Budapest Major Group Stages?
Potential 100 Theives CS2 roster updates following Astralis’ Budapest elimination
Following Astralis’s brief entry and exit from the Budapest Major in Stage 2, the team is rumoured to be losing one of its star players.
Absolutely devastated, criticism is very warranted.. I will do everything I can get back individually in form.

Sometimes you have to be broken to grow back stronger. 💔
According to the latest rumoured CS2 roster updates, Nicolai ‘dev1ce’ Reedtz will join the new 100 Theives Counter-Strike program.
A Counter-Strike legend and veteran, dev1ce has played for Astralis across several extensive periods of his career. This includes from 2016 to 2021 (with a period of inactivity from 2017 to 2018) and from 2022 to the present.
His potential departure from the team could position him well for a career revival.

100 Thieves announced their CS return in November, with Roobet as naming sponsor. So far, they have confirmed that Håvard “rain” Nygaard will be at the roster’s core.
Coach Lukas ‘gla1ve’ Rossander, who guided Astralis to a record-breaking four Major titles, is also apparently set to join the roster.
They have also announced that Sean ‘sgares’ Gares will be the 100 Thieves head of FPS, with Graham ‘messiso’ Pitt as Head of 100 Thieves CS Operations.
Therefore, this roster already contains several of the most experienced CS2 professionals.

If the rumoured CS2 roster updates come to fruition, dev1ce’s addition would further strengthen the team’s wealth of knowledge, potentially presenting new opportunities to dominate once more in competition.
It would also mark a significant reunion, bringing together two players from Astralis’ golden era on a new team.

G2 Esports and paiN Gaming set to depart with roster members post-elimination
Both G2 Esports and paiN Gaming were eliminated in Stage 2 of the StarLadder Budapest Major. Following their eliminations, the two teams have already begun their CS2 roster updates for 2026.
Brazil’s CS2 roster updates have kick-started with paiN Gaming. The organisation is set to remove both David ‘dav1deuS’ Maldonado and Franco ‘dgt’ Garcia from the team.
CS2 expert and stage host James Banks commented on the change, stating that the change is “exactly what [paiN Gaming] needed.” He further clarified, “Not because the players were bad but because of communication.”
Meanwhile, G2 has announced an emotional departure from one of its coaching staff.

Aymein ‘Aymeinstein’ Bencheikh joined G2 as an Assistant Coach in July 2024. During his time on the team, he contributed to the roster’s wins in the BLAST Premier Fall Final 2024, BLAST Premier World Final 2024, and BLAST Open Fall 2025.
However, G2 has confirmed his departure post-Budapest.
In a heartfelt message to the CS2 community, Aymeinstein reflected on his time with the team. He professed, “G2 will always be in my heart in the good and the bad moments.”
He also noted in his farewell, “Sometimes things happen behind the scenes that make it better for everyone to go separate ways and chase new goals with a different group.”
After 1 year and 6 months, my time with G2 comes to an end.

G2 is not “just a club” for me. It’s a part of my life now, the wins, the heartbreaks, the late-night reviews (very, very late sometimes), the bootcamps, everything. I’ll never forget what this org and its fans did for… https://t.co/Xe5Yd1Zu1M pic.twitter.com/xhZvedSi3D
Vitally, Aymeinstein also revealed significant health challenges that have affected his 2025 season. While fulfilling his duties on the team, he also fought a heart problem, which resulted in hospitalisation.
In his words, “It made me see everything differently: the game, the pressure, the privilege of doing what we love.”
