UK esports organisation Los Ratones have been crowned the EMEA Masters Spring 2025 champions.
The team, created by British streamer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont, defeated Barça eSports 3-0 in the Grand Final.
The NLC champions join Karmine Corp in being the organisations to win the tournament twice.
Los Ratones made history earlier this year by becoming the first UK team to win EMEA Masters.
And now, like KCorp, Caedrel’s team have won back-to-back championships.
Though the Rats have a long way to go to equal the French org’s record of three consecutive EMEA Masters titles and four in total.
Ratones support Martin ‘Rekkles’ Larsson has won the tournament with both teams and is the only player to have won the title while playing two different roles.
Los Ratones dominate Barça eSports 3-0 in the EMEA Masters Spring Grand Final
Coming into the Grand Final, there were some fears that Los Ratones may struggle.
Earlier in the tournament, they had been stomped 2-0 by Barça in possibly the team’s heaviest defeat yet.
And the Spanish champions had continued flying through the tournament, defeating Karmine Corp Blue convincingly in the Semifinals.
However, like in Winter, the NLC champions continuously improved as the tournament progressed.
And they finished the tournament in style, earning revenge on Barça by beating 3-0 and winning every game in less than 30 minutes.
Former Fnatic midlaner Tim ‘Nemesis’ Lipovšek was awarded the Finals MVP award with his deathless performance on Xerath securing the team’s victory.
Los Ratones have now won all five finals they have competed in.
They have won 15 out of the 16 finals games they’ve played, dropping one in the NNO Cup final.
What’s next for Los Ratones?
There is one more split of NLC and EMEA Masters to play but then you have to wonder what will happen to Los Ratones.
After their dominant performances, fans are keen to watch the star-studded roster take on the top teams in the LEC.
But Caedrel has insisted Los Ratones won’t pay €20m for an LEC spot.
Caedrel has mentioned taking the team into another region to compete as one possible option.
It’s also possible that some of Los Ratones’ players will be snapped up by LEC teams.
Promising rookie jungler Veljko ‘Velja’ Čamdžić claims he had offers from three different LEC teams to join for the Summer Split.
The Serbian has committed to sticking with Caedrel’s team for the remainder of the year.
But his performances and popularity will likely make him a coveted talent in the next off-season.
In my seven years of esports writing, I’ve introuduced esports coverage to newspapers, interviewed some of the biggest names in the industry, and driven viewers mad with the puns in my YouTube scripts. I’m most proud of the latter.
