Switch 2 causes issues on launch day as players struggle to download Mario Kart World

Mario Kart World

The Nintendo Switch 2 launched this week and while there is plenty of excitement surrounding the new console, there has also been some minor hiccups with the release.

One of the games receiving mixed reviews early after its release is Mario Kart World which without a doubt is one of the most highly anticipated titles on the Switch 2.

Mario Kart World download trouble

After the Nintendo Switch 2 released globally on June 5th, players rushed to play one of the new and exciting games which came with the official launch including Mario Kart World and Nintendo Switch 2 Welcome Tour.

Those trying to download Mario Kart World were met with an unexpected error message which read: ‘Error Code: 2813-0171… This product hasn’t been released yet. Try again on or after the release date.’

Mario Kart World did in fact go live along with the console so players are right to be confused, with many Nintendo fans heading straight over to social media to voice their concerns.

Why isn’t Mario Kart World downloading?

It seems that the players receiving the error code and download issues from Mario Kart are the ones who bought the game in a bundle with the Switch 2 for £429.99.

There are two different types of bundles currently available to buy, with one of the boxes having a Mario Kart World graphic on the box while the other simply just has a sticker on the front.

It is the bundle with the sticker on that is causing problems, with the issue linked to a download code that isn’t redeemed on the console yet.

The bundle with a graphic on the box is not experiencing issues as the game already comes downloaded with the Switch 2.

Nintendo are still yet to comment on the issues with Mario Kart World however with the Switch 2 only launching a matter of hours before the issues arose, the setback should be resolved sooner rather than later.
