The World Series of Warzone will return in 2025 with the top Call of Duty players competing for a share of its $1 million (£741,000) prize pool.
It was confirmed by Call of Duty’s official X account on Thursday night, with the top trios set to compete for the largest portion of the prize money.
Qualifiers will begin on June 20th through the In-Game Open, and it will use the Verdansk map, which was reintroduced last month.
Last year’s finals, which were held in Las Vegas, was won by Andrew ‘Biffle’ Diaz, Kasimili ‘Soka’ Tongamoa, and Shifty, who claimed a $300,000 prize.
It came after Team Biffle dominated to become World Series of Warzone winners in London back in 2023.
World Series of Warzone format
Open qualifiers for Call of Duty World Series of Warzone 2025 will begin on June 20th, 2025.
They will run from June 20th to June 22nd for the North America and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) regions.
The top 10 scores will contribute to a team’s total, with the top 100 trios from these regions advancing to the Group Play Gauntlet.
During Group Play, which runs from July 7th to July 16th, teams are divided into four groups, each playing five matches against other groups.
The top 25 teams move to the Qualifier Finals on July 17th. The bottom 10 are eliminated while the remaining teams will compete in August’s Last Chance Qualifier.
APAC, LATAM North and South region teams will qualify through an online Private Match Competition to decide the representatives.
Regional finals will determine 15 representatives per region for the World Series of Warzone final. The non-qualified teams can compete in August’s Last Chance Qualifier, where five additional teams and one wildcard winner move onto the championship.
More details on the final event is to be shared by tournament organisers at a later date.
Verdansk’s return to Call of Duty
Call of Duty’s World Series of Warzone will be played on the recently returned Verdansk map.
Verdansk’s return has sparked a renewed interest in the esports scene.
On April 4th, Twitch Rivals hosted the first tournament on the new map which attracted peak viewership figures of 163,013 according to Esports Charts.
Then earlier this month, around 120 content creators took part in the Call of Duty: Trials of Verdansk tournament.
However, this summer’s Call of Duty: Warzone tournament at the Esports World Cup will not feature the Verdansk map.
For the Esports World Cup, Warzone’s Resurgence mode will return. It was previously used in past World Cups including at last year’s 2024 edition.
