FragPunk has unveiled plans to launch its first esports tournament, with the inaugural competition set to offer up to $200,000 in cash prizes.
The event named ‘FragPunk Global invitational’ will be the first of its kind for the game with the announcement coming just weeks after developers confirmed they would launch on console.
FragPunk is yet to officially launch on Playstation and Xbox however the rollout is coming soon, with the game heading to console on April 29th.

The FragPunk esports tournament will get underway from April 28th, with qualifiers taking place between team captains to find the best players from each region.
Regions that can compete in the FragPunk esports tournament:
- Brazil
- Germany
- Mainland China
- Russia
- North America
- France
- Hong Kong/Macau/Taiwan (HMT)
Five out of the seven captains have already been selected for the upcoming FragPunk Invitational with familiar faces such as Tyson ‘TenZ’ Ngo and Dmitrii ‘Recrent’ Osintsev leading the way.
Once all of the team captains have been decided and qualifiers have been completed, team captains will be able to settle on the final roster for their respective teams before competitive play can begin.
Captains will decide on the teams during regional finals, where there is up to $10,000 in prize money to be won.
The regional finals are of course just a fraction of the size of the grand finals which are held in Hangzhou, China, where the prize pool rises up to $150,000.
On top of the prize money on offer, the tournament winners will also receive a one of a kind World Clash Championship Trophy that has been made especially for the FragPunk esports tournament.
