UK Counter-Strike 2 esports player Jack ‘Gizmy’ von Spreckelsen has been promoted to IGL (in-game leader) of Monte Esports’ main team.
The 20-year-old rifler gained experience in the UK esports scene, playing in tournaments like the now-defunct ESL Premiership, UKCS Hub Cash Cups and Epic.LANs, before branching out into ESEA tournaments, IEM qualifiers and more.
He competed with several UK organisations like Lucent, Eko and Viperio, before moving to the Monte Gen academy team in late 2023.
Gizmy was promoted to the main team temporarily last year, from March to May, before returning to the academy side.
Today, he’s been announced as part of Monte’s main updated roster for 2025, as IGL.
Other players on the Ukrainian organisation include Polish players dycha and hades, plus Lithuanian ryu (who has also been promoted from the academy team), and Ukrainian player DemQQ and coach AiyvaN.
Gizmy said: “Promoted again, this time as the IGL.
“I’ve reinvented myself as a player, and from now I will be leading the team alongside AiyvaN.
“Time to show some magic.”

Gizmy posted the comment on Twitter along with a picture of former professional basketball player, Michael Jordan.
Gizmy is also signed to Achieveminds, the esports agency set up by former Excel Esports performance coach Fabian Broich in 2021.
Monte Esports on future of academy project
Monte’s Director of Esports, Denys ‘dance’ Yashniev, said: “We are not shutting down our academy project. Two players and the coach were promoted to the main roster and the rest are allowed to explore for the opportunities, as everyone in Monte Gen project outgrew academy level.
“Therefore, we put this project on hold until we find the new coach and we are planning to keep scouting young talents in the future!”
The news comes after Monte Gen won a series of tournaments in late 2024, including the Exort Series, Heroic Thunderpick Path To The Pros, and Galaxy Battle.
