One week ago, Chinese LPL first seed team BLG eliminated Europe’s last hope, G2, from Worlds 2024, and yesterday, they stomped LCK’s first seed HLE out of the League of Legends Worlds 2024 knockout stage. Patty Yu spoke with talented top laner BLG Bin, who was in very good spirits after the victory over HLE, about his reflections on beating G2 and HLE, his love for fans in Europe and the UK, playing in London at MSI 2023 and more.

“As the first seed from the LPL, I believe our overall performance was quite good because we won the match [vs HLE]. I feel that as the number one seed from the LPL, I was able to showcase my strength,” BLG Bin said.

“Since we won today, I can confidently say that our strength definitely surpassed theirs.”

Even though BLG lost the first match against HLE, they completely dominated their opponents in the second and third matches. What did they do in the second match that changed the situation from the first?

“We lost the first game mainly because we weren’t warmed up yet,” Bin said. “In the following matches, we were able to capitalise on their mistakes.”

What about when BLG beat G2? What are his thoughts on them?

‘I feel that G2 is very strong in this World Championship, but they haven’t had the best luck, as their opponents have been quite strong. I actually think their individual skills are quite good. They are definitely a very strong team to be reckoned with. The strongest aspect of G2 is their outstanding champion picks.’

Before he can be sure of reaching the finals in London, BLG must first face fellow LPL team WBG. What are his thoughts on that match and his chances of winning?

“Although we have faced them many times in the LPL, I think we need to prepare well and just play with a calm mindset,” Bin said.

“Although everyone has high expectations for us, we haven’t won the championship yet, so I hope we can bring a championship to BLG.”

BLG Bin on playing in Europe at Worlds 2024 and the possibility of returning to London for the finals after MSI 2023

With Worlds 2024 taking place in Europe, we followed up with Bin to ask about his experience playing in EU this year. He reflected on his journey, sharing that he came to London for the first time last year during MSI 2023, which he described as “spectacular.”

Bin noted that the European audience is “incredibly enthusiastic” and emphasised that he had a “fantastic experience interacting with the crowd.” This time at Worlds marks his second visit, and he has found it to be very fulfilling.

BLG Bin expressed his admiration for the scenery he saw so far along the way, stating that “the views and architecture are truly beautiful.” Although he acknowledged that he “hasn’t had much time to explore due to his match schedule,” he now has some free time after winning against HLE to wander around the city. Looking ahead to his upcoming plans in Paris, he hopes to take a moment to visit the Eiffel Tower.

We saw that he was in good spirits and seems to be enjoying his time playing in the tournament here because of the supporting crowd and his fans.

When asked if he wanted to say something to his the western audiences and his fans in EU, Bin expressed his thanks and his love to the crowd by saying, “Thank you! I love you.” He also added, “Thank you so much!” when prompted if he had anything else to share.
