UK and Spanish esports organisation GiantX have secured a spot in the women’s 2024 Valorant Game Changers Championship with their GiantX GC team.
The roster, competing in VCT Game Changers—the international female circuit of Riot Games’ popular shooter—has qualified for the most prestigious event in the game after accumulating the necessary points across three seasons.
They also join G2 and Falcons Vega as the three EMEA teams that have qualified, but only GiantX have a UK player – Sarah ‘Sarah’ Ahmed.
She’s joined by other players Yağmur ‘Smurfette’ Gündüz (from Turkey), Neslişah ‘Ness’ Demir (Turkey), Tina ‘Joliinaa’ Agéli (Sweden) and Eylül ‘Miyori’ Sudem Sarıoğlu (Turkey), led by coach Antonio ‘Aska’ Lozano (Spain), who have etched their names in the organisation’s history. The org also have sub player Havva ‘mimier’ Özdin from Turkey.
After securing two third-place finishes in EMEA, the region encompassing Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, the GiantX GC women’s team have made it to the finals of the third split, earning them a ticket to the 2024 Game Changers Championship, which is essentially the women’s Valorant world championship.
GiantX said in a press release that this achievement marks the most significant international milestone for the org in 2024.
They made their way through the lower bracket of the Game Changers EMEA Stage 3 with a four-match winning streak.
“GiantX’s summer season in Game Changers has been one of steady improvement,” the org said in a press release. “After suffering two losses in the group stage and another in the first playoff match against NASR Ignite, GiantX secured their place in the Game Changers Championship with a remarkable comeback, achieving victories over Odd 1 Out, Heroic, and Falcons, who had previously been their toughest adversary, before eliminating NASR Ignite.”
Now, GiantX will face G2 Gozen in the third split final, scheduled for Sunday October 6th 202, at 3.30pm BST.
Smurfette said: “Ggs to NASR – we finally broke the curse and didn’t finish third place.”
Joliinaa added: “GG 3-1 NASR, I love my team so much, I am so happy to qualify for Champs. Let’s go.”
“The players have exceeded expectations and will even compete for the title in the third split, the final stop before the World Championship,” the org continued.
GiantX also described their opponents G2 Gozen as ‘a dominant force in the competition’.
Valorant Game Changers Championship 2024 dates and teams

The event will take place in Berlin from November 8th to 17th 2024.
In the German capital, the top ten women’s Valorant teams from around the world will convene.
So far, G2 Gozen, GiantX GC and Falcons Vega are the only teams to have qualified, but they will also be joined by two from North America, two Pacific teams, one from China, one from LATAM and one from Brazil.
G2 Gozen won the 2022 Championship in Germany, and Shopify Rebellion lifted the trophy last year in Brazil.
Riot Games first launched the Game Changers circuit in 2021 with the goal of “creating new opportunities and enhancing exposure for women and other underrepresented genders” in esports.
