The Twitch Together For Good charity week is approaching, and comes after the livestreaming platform’s community raised a whopping $400m+ this year to date.
From November 28th to December 3rd 2023, Twitch will be promoting streamers’ charity fundraising streams on its homepage and social channels as part of Together for Good, a new global event which celebrates the generosity of the Twitch community.
As mentioned, in 2023, the Twitch community raised over $400 million for various causes. In the UK, this included F1NN5TER who raised $50,000 for trans health care, and MiyukiPanda, who raised more than £10,000 for Cancer Research UK.
We’ve asked Twitch for more examples of UK streamers who have raised money using the platform this year.
Streamers who use Twitch’s in-built charity fundraising tool or Tiltify, and include #TogetherForGood or #Charity in their content tags or stream title during the event, will also be in with a chance of being featured on Twitch’s homepage.
All week, Twitch will be featuring charity streams from streamers benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and has committed to matching the community’s donations up to $100,000.
Twitch will also be showcasing other charities including Movember, Games Done Quick, Cure Cancer’s Game On Cancer, Trans Lifeline and others.
Twitch viewers who donate more than $5 to the Twitch Together for Good charity streams will receive an exclusive soon-to-be-revealed chat badge.
The event will also feature new custom alerts to help streamers turn their channel’s subscription and donation buttons into a donation service, with the streamer choosing from tens of thousands of global charities.
All community donations are processed by the PayPal Giving Fund, with Twitch taking no fees.
Things get underway on Giving Tuesday on November 28th, where the first streamers in the initiative will go live and the Twitch Rivals OG Map Charity Showdown ft. Fortnite will activate at 2pm PT.
The news also comes one week after the Twitch Hype Challenge was announced for UK and Ireland partnered streamers this Christmas.
There’s more info on the Twitch Together For Good page on the platform’s website.
