A brand new Super Smash Bros Ultimate esports circuit – Total Knockout – has been announced for the North East of England.
The tournament organisers, Team Knock Out, have announced the circuit with a £500 base prize pool, increasing by £5 per entrant at future tournaments titled the Total Knockout Circuit.
Invitees for the circuit finale will consist of four winners of previous Knock Out tournaments, the top four placing players of Team Knock Out’s major The Main Event, followed up by the winners of the next four Knock Out tournaments.
Team Knock Out ran The Main Event from Teesside University’s Student Union in Middlesbrough on February 25th, garnering 160 entrants for its Ultimate Singles, Ultimate Doubles and Pokemon Generation 9 events.
With the announcement of Total Knockout, the existing Knock Out tournaments are still continuing and will be acting as qualifiers for the circuit. They take place at the same place at Teeside University.
Organiser Faith ‘Trillbi’ Brazell said:
“Since the return from the pandemic, we’ve had nothing but amazing support from the UK Smash Ultimate community. After four successful events back to back and an amazing major under our belt, we’re wanting to give back with the Total Knockout Circuit.”

The eight qualified players to Total Knockout so far include Bloom4Eva, CurryGovernor, SBF, MazeBeans, Luugi, Kirb0 and Gaia. Two runner ups from The Main Event, Octave and NUTLORD, are set to have a decider match for one of the remaining spots.
Four more players will qualify from future North East Smash Ultimate events, as well as a Last Chance Qualifier a day before the Total Knockout Finale.
The news comes after the The Northern Knockdown Series was announced by Esports Northern Ireland and Big Fish, and East London Smash announced a new national tournament series Rise.
