UK and Ireland content creators were recognised at the 2022 Streamer Awards this weekend, with TommyInnit and Jacksepticeye picking up awards.
British streamer TommyInnit, one of the fastest-growing Twitch streamers of last year, was awarded Best Minecraft streamer, while Irish streamer Jacksepticeye won Best Philanthropic Streamer, awarded for contributing to philanthropic causes by hosting charity streams, events, spreading awareness and other such initiatives.
Jacksepticeye said the award meant a lot and thanked those for voting for him:
On Tommyinnit, the Streamer Awards said: “His name is synonymous with a game about surviving a block world with exploding creatures and a variety of materials to use as they can create their 3×3 square “home”. Congrats Tommyinnit for winning Best Minecraft Streamer!”
The Streamer Awards is an annual awards show that celebrates achievements in the livestreaming industry over the past year. It’s set up by streamer QTCinderella and is predominantly US-focused, with the ceremony taking place in Hollywood.
The event is billed as ‘the first ever streamer-oriented awards show, aiming to recognise the best that live streaming platforms have to offer, as they continue to grow in popularity and change how people consume entertainment’.
The show amassed almost 400,000 peak viewers. Viewers could nominate and vote for streamers based on which streamer they find most entertaining to watch in each category.
The awards show took place on March 12th 2022 at twitch.tv/qtcinderella.
Other winners included Asmongold (Best MMORPG Streamer), Tarik (Best FPS Streamer), DisguisedToast (Best Strategy Game Streamer), Tyler1 (Best LoL Streamer), Pokimane (Legacy Award) and more.
Popular Spanish streamer and owner of the Koi esports organisation, Ibai, was nominated for the League of Their Own award, which was won by Jerma985.
