UK Call of Duty League franchise the London Royal Ravens have this evening announced their new player roster for 2022.
The line-up includes returning players Trei ‘Zer0’ Morris and Byron ‘Nastie’ Plumridge, as well as a newcomer to the Ravens, Joey ‘Gismo’ Owen, and existing player Marcus ‘Afro’ Reid, who extended his contract with the Ravens back in September.
James ‘Dominate’ Batz remains as coach, and Michael ‘Odee’ O’Dell as managing director of the team. Odee is also chief gaming officer at Ravens parent company ReKTGlobal, a position he took back in 2019.
The Royal Ravens made the new CoD roster announcement in a reveal video just now:
The Ravens will be hoping for improvement in 2022, following a tough year in 2021 where they finished tenth in the regular CoD League season, ahead of LA Guerrillas and Paris Legion.
They will hope to eclipse their fourth place finish in the CDL Championship Weekend during the league’s inaugural 2020 season.
In addition, the Ravens have also today announced a partnership with LG UltraGear, which will become the lead sponsor of the team. The Royal Ravens will display the LG UltraGear logo on their team jerseys.
This partnership expands LG’s esports presence, one that was strengthened this year with the release of LG’s latest Ultra monitors, including a line-up of 2021 LG UltraGear Gaming Monitors.
Boasting Nano IPS 1 millisecond Gray-to-Gray (GTG) displays, the monitors (which include models 27GP950, 32GP850 and 34GP950G) are designed to ‘deliver the ultimate gaming experience’.
Highlights of the UltraGear Gaming models include the world’s first 4K resolution display featured on the 27-inch UltraGear 4K UHD monitor (27GP950).
“The London Royal Ravens are very excited to bring on LG UltraGear as a new partner for the 2022 season,” said Jon Urwin, VP of commercial partnerships for ReKTGlobal. “Pro-calibre players need every advantage they can get over the competition, and the lightning quick refresh rate and hyper realistic visual resolution of LG UltraGear monitors give the Royal Ravens that competitive edge.”
Hanju Kim, IT product director at LG, added: “We are thrilled to announce LG’s partnership with the London Royal Ravens Call of Duty League franchise team and look forward to working together to support the global gaming community. Our UltraGear Gaming Monitors truly offers the ultimate gaming set-up and we are excited to be part of this partnership.”
ReKTGlobal also owns several other properties in esports, including team organisation Rogue, which competes in the League of Legends LEC as well as other games.
The Royal Ravens has other co-owners like influencer Vikkstar, who recently invested in UK-based business VibePay, as well as streamers like Jukeyz and Angelika.
We hope to secure an interview with the Ravens soon.
