esports awards 2021

The Esports Awards has this evening revealed more finalists for this year’s industry categories, and there are a host of UK-based talent included.

Today, it was announced that UK coaches up for awards include Mac and MarkyB, plus there’s analyst Caedrel, colour casters Vedius and Johnnyboi_i, and play-by-play casters Machine, ODPixel and Pansy up for awards.

Previously, this year’s nominees with UK offices included the likes of Dexerto, Hitmarker, The Story Mob, Hitmarker, Blast, Faceit and more. France-based Prodigy Agency also has UK-based talent manager Crane working for them.

British journalists nominated for Esports Journalist of the Year included Richard Lewis and Adam Fitch.

Loviel ‘Velly’ Cardwell also interviewed the Sentinels’ Valorant team, and Nyvi Estephan sat down with LOUD_Coringa to discuss his Esports Awards Streamer of the Year nomination.

The Esports Awards also showcased its third Creative Corner segment with George Nowack interviewing Aaron Create from OpTic Gaming, cementing its goal of celebrating those who would otherwise go unrecognised and putting a spotlight on creatives.

The industry category at the Esports Awards aims to honour those individuals and businesses at the centre of the industry who ‘innovate support and showcase’.

The creative awards finalists were revealed in July, the pro and on-air talent awards in September and the final ceremony will take place on November 20th at Esports Stadium Arlington.

The main Esports Awards judging panel has also been announced, as well as the creative panel and collegiate panel, with a host of well-known names including UK talent.

British esports host Alan Brice is vice chair of the panel, Rektglobal chief gaming officer Michael O’Dell is on the panel, as is journalist Richard Lewis.

On the creative panel is Kalvin ‘KalKal’ Chung, co-founder of UK org MNM Gaming, and on the collegiate panel is Twitch’s Mark ‘Garvey’ Candella among others.

All awards except for the Panel’s Choice Award are open to community vote, with the community accounting for 25% of the overall vote and the Panel makes up 75% of the vote.

“This year’s industry finalists provide a true showcase of the resilience and growth of the esports industry in the last 12 months and it’s such an honour to be able to provide a platform for them to receive the recognition that they deserve,” said Michael Ashford, MD of Esports Awards.

“As we sit in our sixth year I couldn’t be more proud of how the awards continue to reach new heights and I know that this year’s awards will be our best yet.”
