UK esports talent nominated for 2021 the*gameHERs awards as voting opens

A host of female UK esports talent has been recognised in the*gameHERs awards – with voting now open.

The*gameHERs is an online platform that aims to support and empower women gamers, and the 2021 ceremony will be its second annual awards event to honour and celebrate women in the gaming industry. 

Early last month, nominations opened for 36 individual awards across six categories including esports, game development, content creation, charity, marketing and rising stars at the collegiate level. Hundreds of people and brands have been nominated.

Voting is now open until September 25th, with those amassing the most votes being announced at the awards ceremony in November, which will be livestreamed on the*gameHERs Twitch channel.

Here are some of the UK talent nominated: Guild Esports’ Gee Nelly has been nominated for Top Charity Streamer of the Year, GGRecon’s Kateyrecon is up for Top Facebook Content Creator of the Year, Meg Kay (Megito) has been nominated for Top Journalist of the Year, as has British Esports’ Bryony-Hope Green.

Yinsu Collins and Jasmine ‘Veracity’ Kanuga have been nominated in the Best On Camera Talent category, while Kaeyidream and Ellibear are up for the Best Social Media of the Year award. Ellibear is also nominated in the Best Intern category.

Shoubna Naika-Taylor, aka Queenbeesenpai, curriculum lead of creative and digital at Coventry College, has been nominated for Top Educator in the Rising Star category, as has GGRecon editor-in-chief Mel Ramsay.

UK registered charity Safe In Our World has been nominated for Most Charitable Gaming Organization.

The British Esports Association has also been nominated in the Advocate of the Year and Most Inclusive Organisation categories. Rix.GG has also been nominated for the latter, as has The Goose House and Vulpine Esports.
