Europe’s largest Smash Bros Melee tournament – Heir – will be returning for 2018.
Team Heir previously said that Heir 4, which took place in August 2017, was likely going be the last event in the series, and that certainly seemed to be the case.
However, Team Heir posted the following tweet on Christmas Day, confirming that Heir 5 will be happening next August:
Merry Christmas Everyone ? @German_Smash @Smash_NL @SmashEurope @SmashNorge @LeFrenchMelee pic.twitter.com/WnwC0eMmUX

Heir hosts both singles and doubles tournaments for Smash Bros Melee.
This year’s winner was Leffen from Sweden. The UK’s top performers were Professor Pro (who finished fifth) and Vanity Angel (seventh).
“F*ck it, we’re doing Heir 5 – August 2018.”
Heir 4 took place at the Lenton & Wortley Hall in Nottingham between August 17th and 21st earlier this year.
Smash Bros Melee first launched on the Gamecube back in 2001, as the sequel to Nintendo 64 multiplayer brawler Super Smash Bros, which originally arrived two years earlier. It has a long-standing and dedicated esports community that has bolstered the Smash scene with many grassroots initiatives.
