UK League of Legends event League Fest has been scrapped for the time being and won’t be taking place this year, Riot Games has confirmed.
Riot community specialist John King (aka Riot Bolton) published an update on the League of Legends forum.
“Last year’s League Fest saw some of the biggest names in LoL coming to the UK, an epic Pro-Am, amazing cosplays in the competition and masquerade, and much more. However, what you didn’t get to see was all the hard work from team’s at Riot and Multiplay that made all this possible. This event took months of planning, deliberation, and execution.
“As you may know, Riot is opening a new London office to get even closer to our players, but that transition comes with a lot of movement and requires teams to be agile and ready for change.
“After careful consideration we feel that we would not be able to build the team and invest enough time to deliver the quality level that players expect and deserve when they think of League Fest. As such, we have made the difficult decision not to host League Fest in 2017.”

What about hosting another League Fest next year?
“Unfortunately at this time we just don’t know,” Riot Bolton added.
“We had an amazing time at League Fest last year, but our focus must first be on building a world class team in London and creating long lasting and meaningful experiences for all players in the UK.”
League Fest took place at Multiplay Insomnia58 at the Birmingham NEC last summer, and included a Pro-Am tournament (featuring well-known and upcoming players, including Dyrus, LemonNation, Joekerism, Larssen and others).
It also featured a cosplay competition, LCS viewing party, pub quiz, player meet and greets, showmatches and special guests including streamers and YouTubers.
