Multiplay has given the Insomnia59 League of Legends eSports tournament a fixed £3,000 prize pool.
Last month the event organiser announced it had reduced the prize pool to a starting amount of £1,500, rising to £2,250 if at least 16 teams sign up, and £3,000 if 32 or more teams take part.
Now it has made it so the prize pool is a guaranteed £3,000, regardless of the number of team signups.
However, this is still £5,000 lower than the £8,000 prize pool at i58.
“The spirit of Christmas is visiting Insomnia, but it’s not presents we’ve been getting excited for,” Multiplay said in a statement.
“Since announcing the League of Legends All-Star viewing party, excitement for the game has been reaching an all-time high within the Insomnia team.
“With this in mind, we’re delighted to announce the increase of our League of Legends tournament prize pool to a guaranteed £3,000, double the minimum amount we promised you two months ago!”
First place will now receive £1,500, second £750, third £500 and fourth £250.
