The Renegades Banditos, the winners of the most recent ESL UK League of Legends Premiership split, had nine new name submissions denied by Riot when they rebranded.
Renegades were banned by Riot earlier this year, but the team was still allowed to play (and eventually win) the EU Challenger Series under a different name, after finding new owner Ben Spoont.
But Misfits was not their first choice for a new name.
According to Renegades co-owner Christopher “MonteCristo” Mykles and Misfits manager Ali “Alicus” Saba, as reported by iPreemo on Reddit, the following names were rejected:
- Banneditos
- Name Submissions Denied
- Mustang Court
- Wailin’ Blues
- DoA’s Angels
@MonteCristo ah i remember, 9 different names were denied

The names they came up with before must have Mis-ed the mark, but their final one obviously Fits.
Misfits play Origen on Friday August 5th in the EU LCS promotions.
