Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont has clarified the scrims situation with his Los Ratones League of Legends team in the LEC.
Both toplaner Simon ‘Baus’ Hofverberg and coach Jakob ‘YamatoCannon’ Mebdi revealed LEC teams weren’t scrimming Los Ratones.
However, Caedrel has revealed that while this was the case, everything is fine and the team’s practice is going well.
After losing all three matches during their debut week in LEC Versus, every LEC team denied any requests to scrim with Los Ratones.
But Caedrel told fans not to panic and revealed on his stream that his players had plenty of practice against LEC teams before that:
“We scrimmed LEC teams for four weeks straight, every day we scrimmed an LEC team.
“After Week 1, no LEC team wanted to scrim us, that’s true. So we scrimmed with KC Blue a lot.”
YamatoCannon had spoken about how that practice week with KCB allowed for “introspection” and for the team to take a different approach.
And it clearly worked as Los Ratones defeated Team Heretics and Shifters for their first LEC Versus wins after two impressive comebacks.
“Now we’re scrimmming LEC teams again… we had about three or four practice days without LEC teams,” Caedrel added.
Los Ratones now have an opportunity to finish in the top eight and qualify for the LEC Versus Playoffs.
Caedrel says Los Ratones “are very different to every other team in the world,” so it makes sense that teams want to practice against them in case they meet in the top eight.
Though that uniqueness probably also contributed to the lack of scrims, especially as Baus has been solokilled and fallen behind in all of his LEC games so far.
Yet, Baus proved his value last week too, with excellent teamfighting and engages on Gragas.
Los Ratones next week of LEC games
After two consecutive wins, Los Ratones will want to continue their momentum in Week 3 of LEC Versus, the penultimate week of the regular season.
However, they face an extremely difficult schedule with matches against last year’s Summer finalists G2 Esports and Movistar KOI, as well as the in-form Natus Vincere.
Both G2 and MKOI have shown inconsistency so far this season, with G2 particularly struggling after losing half of their games so far.
MKOI’s new coach Barney ‘Alpahri’ Morris, has been helping the team’s early game, which could make them a tough match-up for Los Ratones’ style.
On the other hand, NAVI already threw a lead against Fnatic, which is how Los Ratones have won their games, so that could be a massive opportunity for Caedrel’s team.
