Unicorns of Love announce fan crowdfunding for 11% of the org

German esports organisation Unicorns of Love are offering fans 11% of the company as part of a crowdfunding campaign.

Primarily competing in League of Legends, the family-run organisation was founded in 2014 and has been running for 11 years.

Now, the organisation has turned to crowdfunding through the Crowdcube platform, with early registration open now.

The former EU LCS team applied for LEC partnership but was not offered a franchised slot by Riot Games.

Though Unicorns of Love almost returned to the LEC for 2026 after reaching the EMEA Masters Summer Semifinals.

Prime League team Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition qualified through the Last Chance Qualifier and made a good run until they were swept 3-0 by Los Heretics.

Instead, Karmine Corp Blue and Los Ratones have earned a slot in the new LEC Versus event in 2026.

According to Unicorns of Love’s announcement, this is the first time the organisation has offered a stake in the company to the public.

The announcement read:

“It all started with five amateur players, a crazy name, and even crazier picks. Today, Unicorns of Love stands on the edge of something bigger than ever. Now, we’re taking the next step — together with you.

“For the first time, we’re opening up to the community and offering up to 11% of the company to those who helped build this journey. We want you to own a real stake in our future.

“After our latest EMEA Masters run and near-visit to the LEC, our ambition has never been higher. The next level is calling — and we want you on the roster.”

The history of Unicorns of Love

Unicorns of Love was founded by the father of Fabian ‘Sheepy’ Mallant so that he could compete in LoL esport with friends.

Sheepy eventually became coach of the team and still holds the role today.

Unicorns of Love earned promotion to the EU LCS and debuted in the top league back in 2015.

That first EU LCS roster is well-loved by seasoned LoL fans with multiple players who would go on to be big names.

Tristan ‘PowerOfEvil’ Schrage, Zdravets ‘Hylissang’ Galabov and Tamás ‘Vizicsacsi’ Kiss were all on that infamous roster.

The storied Hylissang now finds himself without a team for the first time in a while after Team Vitality announced their new LEC roster.

Unicorns of Love finished runners-up in the EU LCS twice, both in Spring 2015 and Spring 2017.

After failing to make it into the LEC, Unicorns of Love have competed in Russia’s LCL and Germany’s Prime League.

After becoming multi-time LCL champions, Unicorns of Love competed at LoL Worlds 2020 and 2021, making it to the Group Stages in 2020.
