EVO France has kicked off. The event, running October 10-12, brings EVO to Europe for the first time in its history.
The Evolution Championship Series (EVO) has long been amongst the most established institutions in the Fighting Games Community (FGC).
The history of EVO stretches to the very foundation of competitive video games, with decades of history underpinning some of FGC’s most prestigious titles.
What features at EVO France 2025?
As is typical for EVO, the event hosts a cornucopia of games represented at the event, with notable competitions including:
- Tekken 8
- Street Fighter 6
- Guilty Gear -STRIVE-
- Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising
- Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves
- Dragon Ball Z
- HUNTERxHUNTER NENxIMPACT
The event has attracted the top FGC talent to Europe, as fighters seek to extend their legacies with historic EVO victories.
Notable names include Pakistan’s Arslan Ash, ATIF, and Farzeen in Tekken 8.
The UK also has strong representation in Tekken with eight competitors, including Kaneandtrench, Gosain, and Ayorichie.
Ireland’s Fergus McGee is also present for the tournament. Vitality’s recently renewed Superstar, Jeondding, is also present in Vitality’s home nation.
Street Fighter 6 includes the UK’s MOUZ representatives of EndingWalker and Problem X, as well as notable names such as Shara, Hikaru, and South Korea’s Leshar.
The Street Fighter 6 tournament is the largest tournament of the event by playing numbers, with over 1,500 registrations for the three-day, double-elimination contest.
The winner will qualify for Capcom Cup 12 in Tokyo, Japan, a $1,280,000 prize pool event, which is the culmination of the Capcom Pro Tour.
Similarly, the winners of Guilty Gear and Granblue Fantasy Versus’ tournaments will qualify them to ARC World Tour 2025-2026 Finals, with City of Wolves’ winner qualifying to SWC 2025 Finals, which boasts a huge $2,500,000 prize pool.
2XKO at EVO France
The event also features various side tournaments, including 2XKO’s first competitive showing.
As part of Riot’s ‘First Impact’ initiative, 2 NICE KO will run October 10-11 with a prize pool provided by the Riot Publishers of $5,000.
The tournament participants include many FGC legends, and former EVO winners such as Dominique ‘SonicFox’ McLean and William ‘Leffen’ Hjelte.
EVO France also features an additional booth for players to have more casual fun with the new title.
Riot has already announced more than 20 events which will be part of the First Impact programme.
The events span Europe, the Americas, and Asia as Riot seeks to embed its new title in the FGC.
