Crypto-integrated poker platform CoinPoker has officially pulled back the curtain on its most ambitious competitive event to date: the 2026 Heads Up Cash Game World Championship (CGWC).
Running from April 6 to May 3, 2026, the tournament is set to bring together the world’s most elite No Limit Hold’em (NLHE) and Pot Limit Omaha (PLO) specialists for a high-octane showdown on the digital felt.
Following a major software overhaul in March, CoinPoker is introducing concurrent championships for both formats, allowing top-tier “end bosses” the chance to chase dual titles and two legendary Rolex timepieces simultaneously.
Disrupting the Industry with Rake-Free Competition
In a move that challenges traditional online poker norms, CoinPoker has confirmed that every hand played throughout the 2026 CGWC will be 100% rake-free.
By removing the house commission, the organisers aim to ensure that the outcome of every match is determined solely by player skill and strategic execution.
The stakes are high, with matches contested at minimum blinds of $50/$100 and a $10,000 buy-in. To further sweeten the pot, CoinPoker is providing a 50% contribution match on player buy-ins, significantly boosting the overall value of the championship prize pool.
The EV BB Scoring Revolution
To combat the inherent variance of poker and ensure the “World Champion” title is truly earned, the tournament will utilise a sophisticated EV BB (Expected Value in Big Blinds) scoring system.
This “luck-neutral” metric tracks the mathematical profitability of a player’s decisions rather than just the final result of a hand, rewarding those who consistently demonstrate the highest level of technical skill.
Tournament Structure and Key Dates
The championship is divided into three distinct phases, designed to test endurance and tactical depth:
-
The Group Stage (April 6–19): Competitors are seeded via RNG into groups for high-volume matches. Players earn points for wins and performance bonuses based on their EV BB results.
-
The Semi-Finals (April 20–26): Survivors advance to a 2,000-hand elimination bracket. The top-performing player from the groups earns the “Challenger’s Choice,” allowing them to hand-pick their opponent.
-
The Grand Final (April 27–May 3): A marathon 2,000-hand heads-up battle to crown the 2026 World Champion in both NLHE and PLO.
High-End Prizes and Global Broadcast
Winners of both the NLHE and PLO formats will walk away with an exclusive Rolex watch alongside their share of the prize pool.
Fans and enthusiasts can follow the action live through official broadcasts on YouTube and Twitch, with real-time hand analysis and highlights shared across CoinPoker’s social channels.
