Pokémon Pocket players think they’ve solved mystery Mega Evolution card

Pokémon TCG Pocket players believe they know what the new mystery Mega Evolution card will be.

The game’s Japanese Twitter account has been posting cryptic clues about three upcoming mystery cards in Pokémon Pocket.

As previously reported by Esports News UK, the Deluxe Pack ex limited-time packs have returned and are out now.

Afterwards, the next expansion is expected on January 29th and could be quite exciting if online decipherers are correct…

With the puzzles now solved, we know that this card is a Mega Evolution, is a psychic type, and potentially will confuse the opponent.

Based on the first two clues, many thought this was an over-the-top advertisement for the upcoming Mega Latios ex promo card.

However, confusion doesn’t really fit with the legendary Dragon Pokémon.

Others began to predict that the clues could be hinting towards Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y.

This theory would make sense as the next expansion is expected to be a two-pack set, and the two Mewtwo would be perfect cover stars.

Also, the clues and envelopes reminded people of the Project M side mission for Mewtwo in Pokémon Legends Z-A.

However, there’s one other theory which is currently looking the strongest.

Is Mega Malamar coming to Pokémon Pocket?

It seems very likely that Pokémon Legend Z-A’s new Mega Evolution, Mega Malamar, is making its way to Pokémon Pocket.

It fills the criteria of being a psychic-type Mega Evolution, and it definitely fits the ability to confuse.

The Mega is all about hypnotising and confusing; its Pokédex description reads:

“This vividly colored light further amplifies the Pokémon’s hypnotic abilities, allowing it to freely overwrite the personalities or even memories of others.”

The clue that especially hints to Mega Malamar is the hidden symbol in the bottom left corner of one picture.

The empty space appears to form the logo of Team Yell from Pokémon Sword and Shield.

The leader of the group is Pier, whose team only featured one psychic Pokémon, and that was Malamar.

Also, Mega Malamar was used in Legends Z-A by Emma, a detective, which fits with the clue-giving theme.

However, any card for Mega Malamar could also be difficult to use, maybe with a lot of coin flips, considering this part of its description:

“If it disagrees with an order given to it by a Trainer, it will sometimes respond by hypnotising them, making this an incredibly difficult Pokémon to interact with.”

Mega Malamar doesn’t have a card in the physical Pokémon TCG yet.

Though it could be included in the upcoming Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes set starring Mega Dragonite.

Ascended Heroes releases January 30th, and the next Pokémon Pocket set is expected January 29th, so a crossover would make sense.
