Will Pokémon Pocket’s next Crown Rare be an item for water types?

Pokémon TCG Pocket players have noticed a pattern and are predicting what will come with the next expansion.

So far in Set B, each of the two expansions have released very powerful item cards for certain archetypes.

Megas Rising brought out the Flame Patch, which helps fire-type decks, while Crimson Blaze helped grass decks with Quick-Grow extract.

Now, Pokémon Pocket players think it’s time water types get a Crown Rare item to help them.

This would complete the trifecta of Pokémon’s classic starter types.

And in some ways, water archetypes do need the help with Mega Blastoise, easily the weakest Kanto starter Mega in the Crimson Blaze set.

However, this is mostly because of Misty; one of, if not the most polarising card in Pokémon Pocket.

Misty adds a water energy for every heads flipped until a coin lands on tails.

The card is an extreme gamble but can automatically win the game if a player is lucky enough. Hence why it is so hated.

Plus a lot of people don’t like playing Misty because having to rely on extreme luck also doesn’t feel good.

As a result of this card, most water-type cards have to compensate by having higher energy costs. Mega Blastoise needs six energy to truly be effective.

Not that water is altogether weak. Ranked has only been out for a day, but Suicune and Greninja still looks like one of the strongest decks.

Meanwhile, other water cards like Blastoise and Gyarados deserve an item that is a less volatile alternative to Misty.

What’s next for Pokémon Pocket?

The new Pokémon Pocket ranked season is finally underway, but it won’t be long until the game gets more updates.

For starters, a new solo battle is starting January 17th with a brand new Mega Latios EX card obtainable through the event.

However, the dual-type card, which discards all of its energy, looks extremely weak unless the next set adds support for dragon cards.

The release date of the next set is unknown, as the limited edition Deluxe Pack EX packs are returning to Pokémon Pocket this month.

The Deluxe packs only contain four cards, but are guaranteed to contain a rare card, including some with exclusive art.

The Deluxe packs also contain the highly sought-after full-art Professor Research and Crown-Rare Rare Candys.

However, these packs will only be available until January 29th.

Additionally, the current ranked season is set to end on January 26th, which suggests a new set will release in Pokémon Pocket by early February.
