CFO sign Pungyeon, potentially completing roster

CTBC Flying Oyster have announced the signing of Lee ‘Pungyeon’ Jong-hyuk from DN Freecs.

The Korean Mid-Laner previously competed for DN Freecs Challengers, the organisation’s LCK Challengers League team.

The move restores the LCP champions to five players following the departures of four of their stars in the off-season.

CTBC Flying Oyster’s new roster complete (maybe)

The LCP champions were reduced to just two players after the departures of Shen ‘Driver’ Tsung-Hua, Ling ‘Kaiwing’ Kai Wing, and the now JD Gaming pair of Tsai ‘HongQ’ Ming-Hong and Yu ‘JunJia’ Chun-Chia.

The changes left CFO’s dominant LCP team with only their ADC, Chiu ‘Doggo’ Tzu-Chuan, and their second Top Laner, Hsu ‘Rest’ Shih-Chieh, who recently re-signed with the organisation.

Despite the losses, keeping their enigmatic star in Doggo gave CFO a platform to work from.

The rebuild began with the signing of former LEC and Bilibili Gaming Jungler, Zhao ‘Shad0w’ Zhi-Qiang.

It sees the Italian leave the LPL for the first time since 2021, following his departure from MAD Lions in 2020.

Next up, CFO targeted the signing of former Talon Academy player, Kuo ‘Orca’ Cheng-Han.

PSG Talon were expelled from the LCP following significant payment delays, which allegedly remained unpaid despite Riot’s intervention.

The collapse of PSG Talon triggered speculation that LCP teams would target Talon’s now free agents, but CFO decided instead to ignore the more experienced pieces in favour of Orca.

CFO, rather poetically, announced the Support with some sea creature-based wordplay as the Oysters added an Orca.

In recent years, CFO has strongly preferred to field a six-man roster, subbing out Rest and Driver on a draft-by-draft basis.

It is unclear whether the roster will attempt to sign another Top Laner to replace Driver, or whether they are satisfied with their five.

In any case, the signing of Pungyeon means that CFO can now field a fully-functional five, and begin to scrim as they look to maintain their dominance in the Pacific region.

CFO are now:
