ZOWIE Asia eXTREMESLAND CS2: Teams, format, and schedule

Counter-Strike’s final A-Tier tournament of the year, ZOWIE Asia eXTREMESLAND, is due to kick off on December 18th.

While it is a smaller regional tournament, Asia eXTREMESLAND will allow both Rare Atom and Lynn Vision Gaming to bounce back in morale after their Stage 1 exits at the StarLadder Budapest Major.

Which teams are competing in ZOWIE Asia eXTREMESLAND?

Lynn Vision is the most globally recognisable team competing in ZOWIE Asia eXTREMESLAND, thanks to its performance at the BLAST Austin Major in June 2025.

At the time, player Tang ‘EmiliaQAQ’ Junjie hit headlines for his charismatic interviews and emotional pro journey. Lynn Vision reached Stage 3 in Austin, even snatching wins from high-ranked competitors such as Team Falcons.

However, the team did not enjoy the same success at the StarLadder Budapest Major, unfortunately exiting the tournament without a win in Stage 1.

They will be looking for a morale boost in Asia eXTREMESLAND to end 2025 on a more positive note.

Alongside them will be Rare Atom, who suffered the same 0-3 fate in Budapest.

Rare Atom also hit headlines in 2025. The team benched ‘somebody’ for ‘Trash’, removing Xu ‘somebody’ Haowen in favour of picking up Tian ‘Trash’ Aojie. The unfortunate combination of player names involved in the roster move caused the team to go semi-viral within the community.

However, Rare Atom has since removed Trash from the roster, opting for Zheng ‘TiGeR’ Junbin instead.

Asia eXTREMESLAND will also be Rare Atom’s first tournament with new signing Zu ‘chengking’ Shengxuan, allowing them to test their new team dynamic.

The complete list of competing teams (with qualification method) at ZOWIE Asia eXTREMESLAND is as follows:

  • Rare Atom (Chinese Qualifier)
  • Lynn Vision Gaming (Chinese Qualifier)
  • Change the Game (Chinese Qualifier)
  • Chinggis Warriors (Mongolian Qualifier #1)
  • Eruption (Mongolian Qualifier #2)
  • Team Nemesis Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand Qualifier)
  • RAVENS (Japanese Qualifier)
  • Rensation (South Korean Qualifier)
  • JiJieHao (Middle Eastern Qualifier)
  • Rooster (Oceanic Qualifier)
  • VTM Esports (Vietnamese Qualifier)
  • Deep Cross Gaming (Philippine Qualifier)

Which format will the tournament use?

ZOWIE Asia eXTREMESLAND begins with teams split into four Round Robin groups, each with three teams.

All matches played in the Group Stage are best-of-one.

The top two teams in each group (eight teams in total) advance to the playoffs. Meanwhile, one team from each group is eliminated from the competition.

Asia eXTREMESLAND’s Playoffs are a simple Quarterfinal-Semifinal-Grand Final format, with all matches played in best-of-three. This includes the Grand Final; there will be no best-of-five matches in the tournament.

Will there be an English broadcast for eXTREMESLAND?

Yes, ZOWIE Asia eXTREMESLAND will have both an English and Chinese broadcast.

The English broadcast will feature Victoria ‘ChubbyNinja’ Cheng as stage host, and Mitch ‘Conky’ Concanen, Jordan ‘Elfishguy’ Mays, and Mitchell ‘pilski’ Pilipowski as commentators.

The Group Stage begins on December 18th, with the first game (Lynn Vision Gaming vs Team Nemesis Asia) starting at 04:00 GMT. Groups A and B play their matches on the 18th, while Groups C and D play on the 19th, also beginning at 04:00 GMT.

eXTREMESLAND’s Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches are on Saturday, December 20th, with the Grand Final beginning at 10:00 GMT on Sunday, December 21st.
