North American esports organisation FlyQuest have signed one of the great fighting game competitors ever in Dominique ‘SonicFox’ Mclean.
SonicFox is an eight-time Evolution Championship Series (EVO) champion across five different game titles, including Mortal Kombat, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Skullgirls.
His versatility could be crucial in 2026, with many new, exciting fighting games being launched.
That’s why there are a lot of debutant games in the EVO Las Vegas and EVO Japan 2026 tournament title lineups.

Ahead of the new year, SonicFox took to Twitter to announce news, saying: “I look forward to flying high with FlyQuest.”
The announcement video featured another FGC legend and former EVO champion, Justin Wong.
In the skit, Wong insists that despite all of his accomplishments, he wants ‘more’ from SonicFox.
FlyQuest are seemingly hoping for more trophies and more games mastered by SonicFox following their new partnership.
Recently, SonicFox has been competing in 2XKO, but a lot of other exciting fighting games are also coming out.
Marvel Tokon, Avatar Legends: The Fighting Game, and Invincible VS are all releasing next year, with SonixFox seemingly prepared to compete in the latter.

Sonicfox is nonbinary and has been vocally very supportive of the LGBT community and trans rights.
He has joined FlyQuest, an organisation which claims to champion diversity and is “committed to making the gaming landscape better than we found it.”
However, earlier this year, the organisation were criticised for not taking more action after transphobic remarks from a FlyQuest Marvel Rivals player.
I’m a nonbinary gamer that just happens to be really godlike at fighting games and very outspoked about my beliefs. I live by empathy, understanding, and sticking true to myself! See me in Skullgirls 😤#UnderneathTheFursona pic.twitter.com/hN0AoF00v8

SonicFox and 2XKO
Recently, SonicFox has spent a lot of time competing in 2XKO, the League of Legends-based fighter by Riot Games.
At a recent event, he clashed with another big-name in the FGC in Super Smash Bros Melee, William ‘Leffen’ Hjelte.
Leffen defeated SonicFox in the DreamHack Atlanta 2025 2XKO final in an entertaining clash between the two titans.

And SonicFox will have a lot more events to compete in with 2XKO now out of early access and heading into its first full season.
Riot Games has promised that 2XKO will receive at least five new playable champions in 2026.
And the playerbase could dramatically increase once 2XKO releases on console in January next year.
Especially seeing as 2XKO’s console announcement was the most-viewed trailer from the Game Awards with 7.8 million views.
