Manchester City enters Rocket League esports

Premier League football club Manchester City has entered Rocket League esports for the first time ever.

Man City has acquired the ‘2 Danes 1 Bruv’ roster of William ‘ejby’ Lorentzen, Dane Christian ‘TempoH’ Mortensen, and Englishman Aston ‘Accro’ Smith.

The squad will give Manchester City their Rocket League esports debut this week at the RLCS 2026 Kick-Off Weekend.

The tournament will take place at the BLAST Studios in Copenhagen, Denmark, with the winner qualifying for the RLCS Boston Major.

Manchester City’s new roster will be joined by English coach Noah ‘n0ah’ Hinder.

n0ah was the coach at Moist Esports when the organisation placed top eight at the RLCS 2021-22 and won the Spring Split Major in London that same year.

Man City’s first match will see the team take on NOVO Esports this Friday, December 5th.

Speaking after signing, Danish pro ejby said:

“Super excited to join City, can’t wait to show what we’re made of in Copenhagen tomorrow. Come on City!”

While his teammate TempoH added that he’s “Very excited for this opportunity and to be a part of Manchester City with the boys.”

The trio will represent Man City in the English football club’s tenth year in esports.

It’s surprising it’s taken the club this long to move into the popular football-based video game.

Yet, the likes of PSG have shown why football clubs are investing in esports.

Various other football clubs have previously sported Rocket League rosters, including PSG, Barcelona, RCD Espanyol, Wolves, AS Monaco, and Corinthians.

Manchester City’s history in esports

Manchester City began competing in esports back in 2016 by signing FIFA esports pro Kieran ‘Kez’ Brown.

The club has primarily competed in FIFA/EA FC but also had a stint in Fortnite, making Rocket League their third venture.

Man City almost qualified for the 2024 Esports World Cup in Fortnite, but narrowly missed during the North American qualifiers.

Yet, City did find some success in Fortnite as Jarvis ‘Kwanti’ Duong and Aidan ‘Threats’ Mong won DreamHack San Diego in 2023.

Otherwise, City has had some reasonable success in EA FC esports.

They won the ePremier League back in 2019 with Shaun ‘Shellzz’ Springette.

And then City won the ePremier League again in 2024 and 2025, making them the first club to win the esports tournament twice.

However, one of the members of that double-winning roster, Donovan ‘Tekkz’ Hunt, left Manchester City esports earlier this year.

The English EA FC superstar has since joined Red Bull Leipzig’s RBZL Gaming.
