Valorant Mobile is China’s biggest 2025 mobile game launch – but when is the global release?

Tencent’s Q3 earnings presentation has revealed that Valorant Mobile was China’s biggest 2025 mobile game launch.

Despite this, Valorant and mobile game fans are still awaiting official news on a global release.

China’s biggest 2025 mobile game launch: Valorant exceeds 50 million players

On launch, Valorant Mobile instantly generated $1 million and 170,000 downloads within 24 hours. Evidently, the game’s popularity has only increased since.

According to Tencent’s Q3 earnings presentation, it has already exceeded 50 million monthly active users since its release on August 19th.

Thanks to this successful launch and significant growth, the mobile game also contributed to Tencent’s 15% year-over-year revenue growth.

Meanwhile, Riot Games and Tencent have also laid the foundations for a new esports ecosystem. In fact, the game’s first LAN tournament has already taken place, and a national circuit is set to conclude in December 2025.

The format, popularity, and location of Valorant Mobile Esports’ first Chinese national championship suggest goals to align the ecosystem with the scale and popularity of the PC game.

At minimum, this is a likely aim in regions where mobile gaming already sees widespread participation.

However, the game itself is not yet available outside of China.

When is the Valorant Mobile global release?

Riot Games and Tencent have yet to confirm the Valorant Mobile global release date. Nevertheless, the use of VPNs has allowed some mobile game enthusiasts outside China to download and play.

While unofficial tournaments have taken place outside China thanks to VPN workarounds, official esports ecosystems cannot develop until the global launch occurs.

Meanwhile, a Chinese pro player has claimed on an online Discord server that “Tencent and Riot already made the Global server,” and that it is ready for release “anytime.”

This pro player also claimed, “They are just waiting [for] the National Finals in China.”

Given that the Chinese National Finals are due to conclude in December 2025, an official global release may be announced as soon as the end of the year.

Therefore, speculation would suggest an early 2026 launch.

Both Riot Games and Tencent have already committed to investing 1.5 billion RMB (~£1.5 million GBP) in Valorant Mobile Esports, and we know a global release is planned.

Overall, it is safe to assume that a new global mobile esports ecosystem is imminent.
