The next Pokémon Pocket expansion is coming sooner than you think

The next expansion for Pokémon TCG Pocket is coming up pretty soon to follow up on Mega Rising’s three packs.
Mega Rising introduced Mega Evolution EX cards as the first release of ‘Set B’ for the mobile game.
The three packs meant DeNa delayed the start of the upcoming ranked season, which is coming soon but will be short-lived because of the next expansion’s release.
These fast expansion releases are why Pokémon Pocket made more money than Pokémon Go in its first year, with $1.3bn (£988m) in profits.
Here is everything you need to know about the upcoming B1A expansion for Pokémon Pocket.

The upcoming Pokémon Pocket expansion has been confirmed by dataminers to release on Wednesday, December 17th.
This leak means the new update will be released five and a half weeks after the release of Mega Rising.
This allows players a decent amount of time to try and collect all 226 cards from Mega Rising.
DeNa is seemingly following the same schedule as Mythical Island, Pokémon Pocket’s first-ever expansion, also released December 17th.
What we know so far about Pokémon Pocket expansion B1A
So far, the release date is the only information that has been unearthed about the upcoming expansion.
However, we can look at last year’s counterpart, Mythical Island, to get an idea of what Pokémon Pocket players can expect with the next update.
Mythical Island was a single pack expansion, and that would make sense again after Mega Rising’s three packs.
As for the theme, it’s difficult to call.

There are still a lot of Generation 6 Pokémon from Kalos, where Mega Evolutions were first introduced, not in the game.
This includes Pokémon X and Y legendaries Xerneas and Yveltal, who could star in the update like Mew and Celebi did in Mythical Island.
Though if it’s Mythicals instead of legendaries, then Hoopa, who stars in the upcoming Pokémon Legends Z-A Mega Dimension DLC.
Similarly, there are plenty of other Megas to add to Pocket with new Mega Evolutions like Mega Zeraora released for Pokémon Legends Z-A.
This is the theme for the next physical Pokémon TCG expansion: Mega Evolution—Ascended Heroes.
However, that doesn’t release until January 2026, so the new Z-A Megas likely won’t come to Pokémon Pocket until then.
When does the ranked season start for Pokémon Pocket Mega Rising?

This time we'll get a shorter ranked season period#PokemonTCGPocket pic.twitter.com/CUqzZGxnXg
Ranked mode still hasn’t returned in Pokémon Pocket with DeNa allowing players more time to collect the hundreds of new cards.
However, competitive players won’t have to wait much longer as the next ranked season starts on Thursday, November 27th.
This ranked season will be very short, ending on December 14th in preparation for the upcoming B1A expansion.
That means the season will only run for just over two weeks, so players won’t have long to climb to earn better rewards.
The meta has shifted substantially with the release of powerful new Mega Evolution EX cards like Mega Altaria.
Mega Absol looks very strong, especially when accompanied with Hydreigon. Meanwhile, Flame Patch makes Mega Blaziken very fearsome too.
Though Suicune EX may still have a place in the meta, with the new Greninja EX synergising well with last season’s dominant deck.
