Los Ratones have confirmed League of Legends (LoL) esports veteran Jakob ‘YamatoCannon’ Mebdi as their Head Coach for LEC Versus.
YamatoCannon coached The Ruddy Sack in the NLC after working with LEC and LCK teams, including Fnatic and Team Vitality.
Many assumed this would mean that British Twitch streamer Marc ‘Caedrel’ Lamont would step down from coaching to focus on content.
However, Caedrel has confirmed he will still help with scrims and drafts in an Assistant Coach role.
WELCOME YAMATOCANNON @YamatoMebdi joins us as head coach for next season, he will lead the team as we step up to LEC Versus in 2026.

Los Ratones are competing in the LEC with the new LEC Versus event, having received an invitation for winning two EMEA Masters titles.
To prepare for the step up from EMEA Regional Leagues (ERLs), Los Ratones are undergoing a big coaching shake-up.
YamatoCannon will be supported by Caedrel and another former Fnatic employee in Kevin ‘Shaves’ Tolman, who is set to join as another Assistant Coach.
Earlier this month, Los Ratones confirmed that Andrei ‘Odoamne’ Pascu is leaving for other LoL coaching opportunities.
Caedrel has since confirmed on his stream that Odoamne left because he wanted something more full-time.
Especially as this is possibly the last split that Los Ratones will ever play.
Los Ratones’ future in doubt after Caedrel confirms they won’t play in Tier 2
It’s looking increasingly likely that Los Ratones will stop competing after their LEC Versus stint.
Caedrel previously confirmed that Los Ratones won’t continue in the NLC with major repercussions for the UK LoL scene.
With France’s LFL reportedly removing the need for local players, many expected Los Ratones would go there to compete instead.
However, Caedrel has now confirmed that those assumptions are wrong and Los Ratones won’t compete in any ERL:
“I’m not sure what’s happening after LEC for LR. There are some things that could happen…
“Some people asked, ‘Are you going to LFL?’ No, we’re not going to LFL. We won’t be playing in Tier 2.”
It seems Caedrel is determined that the project will not continue competing in ERLs and EMEA Masters after a very good season.
As to what the future holds, it sounds like Caedrel is still in talks with possibly teaming with a Riot Games-partnered team, but that’s a big assumption.
For now, Caedrel is focused on preparing for what he admits will be a very challenging few weeks in LEC Versus.
“Reality is, we’re only in the LEC for four weeks of games, maybe six weeks including Playoffs. To teach things in six weeks is impossible,” says Caedrel.
“I think the LR season will run heavily off of good vibes, enjoying ourselves, learning what we can, and just getting through scrims and grinding hard together,” he added.
