Bayern Munich’s football stars have wished China’s LPL League of Legends teams good luck at the LoL World Championships.
The video was posted by the LPL on social media, featuring Konrad Laimer and legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Both players wished LPL teams good luck at Worlds with the tournament anthem, Sacrifice by G.E.M and Anyma, playing in the background.
The timing is somewhat humorous as the European sports stars didn’t offer any support to the LEC’s G2 Esports before they faced the LPL’s Top Esports.

And Munich’s players chose the right side as G2 were handily defeated by TES and eliminated from LoL Worlds 2025.
G2 were Europe’s last hope, but lost to the LPL team for the second time in the tournament.
G2 struggled repeatedly with Atakhan and TES took full advantage, winning the LoL Worlds quarter-final 3-1 in front of a home crowd.
Meanwhile, potentially two LPL representatives will make it to the Semi-finals with TES already through and Anyone’s Legend playing T1 soon.

The football players wished both teams good luck with Neuer saying:
“LPL is full of passion and enthusiasm, just like our [Bayern Munich motto] Mia San Mia (we are ourselves).
“So I want to send my best wishes to LPL in the 2025 League of Legends World Championship.”
Meanwhile, Laimer got more personal in his good luck message.
He directly namedropped TES’s Yu ‘JackeyLove’ Wen-Bo and AL’s Cui ‘Shanks’ Xiao-Jun, saying:
“Hi Jackeylove, you’re a natural leader. Shanks, stay true to your path.”
Considering this was likely some form of sponsored video or part of a business relationship, Shanks is a surprising choice.

Bayern Munich’s LPL message came as quite a surpirse as the Bundesliga team hasn’t previously shown any links to League of Legends.
Though another German football club, Schalke 04, previously competed in LoL’s EU LCS and LEC.
This LPL message was likely due to Bayern Munich’s large fan base in Asia.
A recent Esports News UK interview investigated why PSG and football clubs are investing in esports.
And one of the major reasons is that it helps promote the club in Asian markets.
Bayern Munich has offices in Thailand’s Bangkok, South Korea’s Seoul, and China’s Shanghai.
The club claims that its data shows that Asia is the continent with the most Bayern fans.
Asia apparently accounts for the largest share of Munich’s official membership subscribers, online sales and merchandise revenue
