G2 Esports have finally reached the Knockout Stages of the League of Legends World Championships (LoL Worlds) again.
It has been five years since G2 reached the Worlds Knockout Stages after reaching the Semi-finals in 2020.
Now, after escaping the Swiss Stage, LEC champions G2 face a difficult match-up with the LPL’s Top Esports (TES).
G2 has already lost to TES at this year’s event but now has a chance to take revenge.

G2 and TES’s route through the LoL Worlds Swiss Stage
These teams started their LoL Worlds 2025 journeys with a best-of-one against each other.
Every LEC team lost their LoL Worlds opener as G2 had an awful performance against TES.
All of G2’s poor habits, which had haunted them all year, returned as the team played far too passively.
This allowed TES jungler Seo ‘Kanavi’ Jin-hyeok to run riot as he finished the game with a 9/0/8 score as Trundle.

However, since then, G2 have looked greatly improved. Especially rookie jungler Rudy ‘SkewMond’ Semaan.
In fact, G2 hasn’t lost since.
G2 defeated Movistar KOI and then picked up a huge win over LPL champions Bilibili Gaming (BLG).
Though the impressiveness of that win was dampened by BLG’s poor tournament performance, which saw them eliminated by TES.
Eventually, G2 qualified for the Knockouts by beating FlyQuest in a Western grudge match.
Going against TES tomorrow, they’re definitely a strong opponent and not to be underestimated, I appreciate the delusion though

I can’t tell you what will happen tomorrow but I am confident in us and I don’t want to stop here
I hope you’ll cheer for us
See you tomorrow Europe
It wasn’t a flawless performance, but G2 still played well and showed good composure to defeat the LTA champions.
Meanwhile, TES also faltered during the Swiss Stage.
After breezing past G2 and 100 Thieves, TES were dominated by LCK teams KT Rolster and Gen.G – both of whom have now made the Worlds Semi-finals.
TES will still be favoured in this match-up, yet they were likely one of the easiest teams G2 could draw.
What potentially awaits in the Worlds Semi-finals
Whichever team wins the LoL Worlds Quarter-final between G2 and TES will then face an even sterner test.
The winner will go on to face the winner between T1 and LPL’s Anyone’s Legend.
T1 are the reigning World Champions, having won the last two iterations of the tournament.
However, the team had a rocky time in the Swiss Stage, losing to Gen.G and, shockingly, CTBC Flying Osyter (CFO).
Meanwhile, Anyone’s Legend are the team to watch after flying through the Swiss Stages undefeated.
They didn’t have easy match-ups either; they defeated the LCK’s Hanwha Life Esports, Gen.G, and CFO in three very impressive wins.
