Everything revealed for Pokémon TCG Pocket Mega Rising expansion

The new Pokémon TCG Pocket expansion ‘Mega Rising’ has been revealed with Mega Evolutions included for the first time.

This new card type is extremely powerful; taking one down will award three points and an automatic victory.

It’s an appropriate addition considering the recent release of Pokémon Legends Z-A, though none of the new Mons have been confirmed for Pocket.

Mega Rising releases on October 30th and will be a welcome addition, as the Pokémon Pocket Deluxe EX packs were a rip-off.

Here are the events, new cards, and cosmetics revealed so far.

As previously suspected, the new expansion will feature three booster packs just like Genetix Apex.

And to celebrate Pokémon Pocket’s first anniversary, players will be given one of each pack for free.

The anniversary event will also feature missions to earn cosmetics, as well as new solo battles and wonderpicks to earn previous promo cards.

Every new card revealed for Pokémon Pocket Mega Rising

The trailer was packed full of new cards, including the three previously confirmed Blaziken, Gyarados, and Altaria mega evolutions.

And for the first time, we saw the cards which will evolve into those three, including a Swablu that knows Sing and a 50 damage two energy attacking Combusken.

The new Magikarp appears to have a three-energy attack, which will find a Gyarados from your deck and evolve immediately.

And DeNA revealed even more Mega Evolution cards, which will redefine the game’s meta.

Mega Pinsir is a 170 HP basic with a three energy attack, which deals 80 plus another 70 if you flip heads (150 in total).

Mega Ampharos is a stage 2 evolution with 210 health and a three-energy attack, which deals 100 and deals 20 damage to a random Pokémon on the opponent’s bench three times.

Meanwhile, Mega Absol is a 170 HP basic who, for only two energy, deals 80 damage, reveals the enemy hand, and lets you choose a supporter to discard.

There are also basic cards for Jirachi, Pidgey, Furfou, Pancham, Growlithe and Goomy.

Goomy is particularly interesting, needing water and psychic energy and increasing the enemy’s energy requirements.

There are also a few powerful non-EX or Mega cards revealed.

Hydreigon has the ability to add two energy to himself at the cost of 30 damage, building up to his 130 damage, three-energy attack which discards all his energy.

Lilligant’s ability heals all your grass Pokémon by 20, while Aegislash increases the damage of your metal and psychic Pokémon.

And there’s Jellicent, which adds a water energy to a benched Pokémon whenever it takes damage in the active slot.

This will be particularly interesting with the new Marlon trainer card.

Pokémon Pocket Mega Rising new trainers and items revealed

Three new trainers were revealed in the Pokémon Pocket Mega Evolutions trailer.

The aforementioned Marlon will heal 70 damage from one of your Jellicent or, currently unrevealed, Carracosta.

May puts two random Pokémon cards from your deck into your hand, then you discard a Pokémon from your hand for each one you keep.

But the most powerful looking is Lisia, who puts two random basic Pokémon with 50 HP or less into your hand from your deck.

As for items, there’s a new Sitrus Berry tool, which will heal a Pokémon for 30 HP if they drop below half health before the tool discards itself.

And there’s the flame patch which adds a discarded fire energy to your active fire Pokémon.

This will make Mega Blaziken even scarier as it’s a two-energy 120 attack, which burns but also discards one energy.
