Valorant Masters Toronto champions Paper Rex part with mindfreak

VCT Pacific and Valorant Masters champions Paper Rex have officially parted ways with, Aaron ‘mindfreak’ Leonhart.

The Indonesion Valorant pro has been with the Singaporean organisation since its was formed back in 2020.

mindfreak represented Paper Rex in both Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) and Valorant during his five year stint.

Despite this, he was moved to the organisation’s inactive roster back in July and has now been officially released.

The organisation revealed mindfreak and thanked him for his contributions:

“Aaron has been part of Paper Rex since our founding in 2020, starting first on our CS:GO roster and transitioning with the team to VALORANT.

“We will never forget the journey we took together, the clutches, the memes, and the memories we made.”

While mindfreak was at Valorant Masters Toronto, Paper Rex’s famous international triumph, he was an unused sub during the tournament.

Though he qualified for almost every international VCT event he could while playing.

He has since been replaced Patrick ‘PatMen‘ Mendoza and has been sitting besides head coach Alexandre ‘alecks‘ Sallé during events.

mindfreak has now been allowed to explore options but reflected positively on his time with the organisation, tweeting:

“The End. Cant believe how time flies so fast, its been 5 years. We started from literally nothing to where we are right now.

“Its safe to  say its not one of the best, but the best moments and journey of my life. I’ll see you around, Adios mi amigos.”

Having only just been released, there is no information on which team mindfreak will join next but there will likely be a lot of interest in experienced pro.

Paper Rex’s phenomenal VCT season

Paper Rex had what was likely the best-ever season in the organisation’s history.

Having finished runners-up at Valorant champions 2023 and Valorant Masters Copenhagen in 2022, 2025 was the year Paper Rex finally won a big final.

Having only qualified as Pacific’s third seed, it was a huge surprise that Paper Rex won Valorant Masters Toronto 2025.

The orgainsation earned its first international VCT trophy after defeating Fnatic 3-1 to earn the trophy.

From there, Paper Rex won VCT Pacific Stage 2 2025 to go into Valorant Champions Paris as the tournament favourites.

While the organisation had a strong showing at the prestigious event, Paper Rex had to settle for a fourth-place finish.

A spectacular performance from Fnatic, while missing Emir ‘Alfajer‘ Ali Beder due to medical issues, knocked Paper Rex into the Lower Bracket.

And there, Paper Rex’s year was brought to an end after losing 2-0 to DRX.
