LoL Worlds Preview: T1 vs Gen.G and guaranteed LEC elimination

The League of Legends World Championship (LoL Worlds) Swiss Stage second round is complete, and teams are already facing elimination.

After another major upset saw CFO defeat reigning LoL Worlds champions T1 in another exciting round of matches.

With teams looking for their third wins and some looking to avoid their third loss, some teams will play best-of-threes tomorrow to decide their fate.

Here is the LoL Worlds 2025 Round 3 draw.

CFO (2-0) vs Anyone’s Legend (2-0)

After difficult draws, these were not the two teams expected to be in the 2-0 bracket.

Both teams caused big upsets with CFO taking down T1 and Anyone’s Legend defeating Worlds favourites Gen.G.

This should be a very fun match between two very aggressive and talented teams, it could go either way.

Anyone’s Legend are probably slightly favoured but CFO keep proving you can’t write them off.

CFO are one of only three LoL teams with a win-rate above 80% in 2025 and they haven’t lost a series since July 17th at the Esports World Cup.

KT Rolster (2-0) vs Top Esports (2-0)

Out of all four of the LCK teams at Worlds, KT Rolster was the last one you would expect to be the sole Korean 2-0 representative.

The organisation has an unfortunate history of choking, especially internationally, but now has a huge chance after beating Team Secret Whales.

The LPL’s Top Esports have a similar history but are looking strong at this tournament after beating G2 Esports and a gutsy 100 Thieves.

This is both teams’ first time facing Asian opposition at this year’s Worlds and is a tricky best-of-three series to call.

It will likely come down to the mid lane match-up between Gwak ‘Bdd’ Bo-seong and Lin ‘Creme’ Jian.

T1 (1-1) vs Gen.G (1-1)

Two shock results have given us this titanic clash between two of this year’s LoL Worlds favourites.

As mentioned earlier, T1 were handily beaten by an extremely impressive CFO.

And Gen.G ruined most people’s Pick’Ems as they surprisingly lost to LPL second seeds Anyone’s Legend, who are beating top LCK teams for fun.

Gen.G have to be favoured here after their domestic domination, but T1 are impossible to count out at Worlds.

With this still being a best-of-one, this is an opportunity for both teams and especially the fans.

Though it does mean one poor team is going to draw Gen.G or T1 with a 1-2 record.

G2 Esports (1-1) vs Bilibili Gaming (1-1)

G2 managed to win the all-LEC battle at Worlds by beating Movistar KOI, but they still didn’t look particularly convincing.

They will need to turn things around quickly as they now have the LPL champions BLG waiting for them.

After the shock loss to 100 Thieves, BLG subbed in versus Fnatic as they cruised to an easy win against their European opponents.

These two organisations regularly meet internationally, and it almost always results in a BLG win. BLG has won four out of their five encounters.

However, the single G2 victory over BLG came earlier this year at the Esports World Cup.

It’s not completely doomed for G2, but it’s important they win here; otherwise they could potentially draw T1 or Gen.G.

Team Secret Whales (1-1) vs FlyQuest (1-1)

This should be an interesting match-up.

LTA champions FlyQuest are fancied to be the strongest Western team at the tournament.

But the LCP is always full of surprises and Team Secret Whales certainly have the talent to cause surprises.

Especially with jungler Lê ‘Hizto’ Văn Hoàng Hải, who impressed in their defeat to KT Rolster.

Both of these teams picked up an easy win off Vivo Keyd Stars; now it’s time to prove their actual level.

100 Thieves (1-1) vs Hanwha Life Esports (1-1)

100 Thieves’ award for their incredible upset victory over BLG is yet another brutally difficult match-up.

The team can’t catch a break as they were unable to recreate their heroics against Top Esports earlier today.

Meanwhile, HLE have recovered from their loss to Anyone’s Legend with a simple win over PSG Talon.

HLE will now look to build momentum from here, but as we’ve seen, 100 Thieves won’t go down easily.

Movistar KOI (0-2) vs Fnatic (0-2)

One of the LEC teams has to be a sacrificial lamb, but that’s what the region gets for poor performances.

A tilted MKOI vs a cowardly Fnatic, the stoppable force vs the movable object.

It could have been so different for MKOI if they had played out their lead against KT cleanly instead of taking random fights mid.

Meanwhile, Fnatic have looked awful at the tournament and haven’t shown any qualities in their losses to CFO and BLG.

This best-of-three will see both teams fight for their lives, as the loser will be eliminated.

MKOI have to be heavy favourites after they defeated Fnatic 3-1 in the LEC Summer Playoffs.

Vivo Keyd Stars (0-2) vs PSG Talon (0-2)

PSG have finally been given a break and an easier match-up after a brutal start to the tournament.

Facing Korea’s top two in Gen.G and HLE was always going to be an uphill battle.

Meanwhile, VKS have had a much kinder start in Team Secret Whales and FlyQuest, but still failed to record a victory.

As the third seeds of both of their regions, this should be an even match-up but PSG are probably favoured.
