Los Ratones keep EMEA Masters treble hopes alive

Los Ratones have survived and are in the top 16 at the League of Legends EMEA Masters Summer finals.

The team are heavy favourites in this tournament after winning the last two EMEA Masters tournaments.

However, Caedrel’s Los Ratones team were in danger of EMEA Masters Summer elimination from the Swiss Stages.

This was after back-to-back series defeats to Misa Esports and Galions, as well as a 1-0 loss to Barça eSports.

However, Los Ratones have reached the Knockouts after defeating StormMedia Fajnie Mieć Skład.

While it was a 2-0 victory, it was anything but easy for Los Ratones.

The first match was a 50-minute thriller which could have gone either way.

Los Ratones looked in control of the first game around the 40-minute mark until an uncharacteristic mistake from Juš ‘Crownie’ Marušič.

Crownie was caught in the mid-lane on his own and could have cost his team the game.

But, Los Ratones are seemingly still experts at comebacks as they aced a team fight to eventually win the opening game.

Meanwhile, the second match was much smoother for the three-time NLC champions.

Los Ratones won in under 30 minutes as they finally had a good performance in the early game.

A superb performance from Tim ‘Nemesis’ Lipovšek helped as he was 3k gold up on his mid opponent just 20 minutes in.

Now, Los Ratones will compete in the Knockout Stages in best-of-five series with no more second chances. Lose, and they’re out.

Los Ratones LEC drama

It’s also been an interesting week for Los Ratones outside of EMEA Masters.

There are reports that Riot Games will expand the LEC 2026 Winter Split to include Los Ratones.

According to the reports, the Winter Split will feature 12 teams with two ERL teams invited to compete with the LEC teams.

Los Ratones would be invited as the most consistent team after winning two EMEA Masters already this year.

And the other invitee will apparently be the EMEA Masters Summer champions, or runners-up if Los Ratones win again.

However, there is drama as Karmine Corp’s owner claims Riot hasn’t approved this new format with the LEC teams.

The LEC is a franchised league, with each of the 10 teams paying millions for a permanent spot in the competition.

Some are now arguing that allowing ERL teams to compete, even temporarily, will decrease the value of the LEC spots.

And others are claiming Riot are showing clear favouritism to capitalise on Los Ratones’ and Caedrel’s popularity.
