Vici Gaming have announced its re-entry to the DotA 2 esports scene after a long absence. The organisation has a strong history in DotA,
After a period of dwindling performances, Vici Gaming left DotA in 2023, but are set to re-enter for the 2026 season, with a few familiar faces from years gone by.
In the announcement statement on Weibo, the organisation stated, “VG Esports Club would like to extend our best wishes to all the partners who have supported us for a long time and officially announce that after two years of precipitation, VG flag, set sail again for the dream!” (translated)
The move comes ahead of The International 2026, set to be held in Shanghai.
In combination with The International 2025, where Chinese roster Xtreme Gaming made a historic runners-up run, Vici Gaming have announced their new roster with fresh ambition for the Chinese DotA scene.
Certainly, the national element was central to Xtreme Gaming’s Weibo announcement, which ended “For CN Dota, let’s fight again!”
Who is on Vici Gaming’s new roster?
The roster contains a mix of young and veteran talent, ranging from 20-30 years of age.
Amongst the veterans, Xiong ‘Pyw’ Jiahan and Ding ‘Dy’ Cong will reunite in the Fourth and Fifth positions respectively, having been a consistent part of Vici’s success from 2018-2021.
The pair own various events together, including DreamLeague Season 11 and the EPICENTER Major 2019, where Vici Gaming defeated Team Liquid in the Grand Final.
On the other end of the scale, Malaysia’s Chung ‘Ws’ Wei Shen is only twenty years old, having broken into the Tier 1 scene in 2024 with Talon, with whom he finished 3rd in DreamLeague Season 26 in June.
Xtreme Gaming’s Guo ‘Xm’ Hongcheng represents the current ambition of the roster, signing the Position 2 player from The International 2025 runner-up roster.
Lou ‘Lou’ Zhen rounds out the roster with Wang ‘Maps’ Yutian coaching the new team.
Vici to attend Fissure Playground 2
As part of the roster announcement, Vici Gaming added that they have been invited to Fissure Playground 2, which will be their first event.
Sadly, however, the organisation added that they are unable to field their full roster due to Pyw’s wedding.
Subsequently, Lin ‘planet’ Hao will stand-in for Xtreme in the fourth position.
Fissure Playground 2 runs from October 23-November 2.
The 16-team event features a $1,000,000 prize pool.
Other notable attendees include Liquid, Spirit, Tundra, Falcons, Nigma Galaxy, BetBoom and Heroic.
