Monstrous Xun performance helps JDG eliminate Weibo from LoL Worlds contention

JD Gaming still have a chance to qualify for LoL Worlds after defeating Weibo Gaming 3-1 in the LPL Regional Finals.

JDG will now face Invictus Gaming tomorrow to decide which team will be the LPL’s final Worlds 2025 representative.

Meanwhile, Weibo have been eliminated from Worlds contention and will have to settle for LoL’s newest international tournament, the Asia Invitational.

This is only the second time in Li ‘Xiaohu’ Yuan-Hao’s career that he has missed out on a place at Worlds.

It’s the first time in five years that the mid-laner has failed to qualify for the World Championships.

This result also means 2019 World Champions Gao ‘Tian‘ Tian-Liang and Liu ‘Crisp’ Qing-Song will miss out on Worlds too.

The 3-1 victory for JDG was largely thanks to jungler Peng ‘Xun’ Li-Xun, who had an incredible series.

The jungler was selected as MVP in all three games that JDG won in the LPL Regionals match-up.

In the final match, Xun’s Pantheon somehow had more damage than anyone else on JDG as he finished with over 22K damage.

He narrowly outdamaged both a Jax and a Lucian on his team as he finished with an 8/4/7 KDA.

Invictus Gaming and JDG battle in LPL Regionals Final for Worlds qualification

The LPL’s three 2025 regional champions have all qualified for Worlds: Bilibili Gaming, Top Esports, and Anyone’s Legend.

The match-up for the LPL Regional Final is set with a titanic clash between IG and JDG to decide who will join them as fourth seeds.

Having convincingly defeated Weibo just a day before the final, JDG are coming into the match full of momentum.

Meanwhile, TES qualified for Worlds by defeating IG, but IG’s good ranking has given them a second chance.

IG will have had a day to recover and regroup before competing to save their season.

A win would mean IG would qualify for an international LoL tournament for the first time since 2019.

That also goes for former World Champion Song ‘Rookie’ Eui-jin, who won Worlds with IG back in 2018.

Meanwhile, toplaner Kang ‘TheShy’ Seung-lok, who also won Worlds with IG, is back on the team after helping Weibo to the Worlds final in 2023.

However, whoever wins the LPL Regional Final still won’t be guaranteed a spot in the LoL Worlds 2025 Swiss Stage.

The eventual LPL fourth seed will have to battle reigning World Champions T1 in the Worlds Play-Ins.
