FlyQuest enters League of Legends Game Changers EMEA with Eterna

FlyQuest have partnered with the all-women’s roster of Eterna for the upcoming League of Legends Game Changers Rising (LGC) tournament.

The North American organisation will compete in EMEA thanks to Eterna’s flawless 6-0 record in the Open Qualifier.

While competing in EMEA, Eterna’s roster has two Americans in toplaner Ivy ‘Starrie’ Starr and support Skylar ‘Virtuosa’ Hew.

Eterna won their first match of the tournament, shocking Solary Academy, and next face Vitality Rising Bees on Sunday, September 21st.

FlyQuest are the fourth Riot-partnered organisation to enter EMEA’s first Riot-sponsored, all-women’s LoL tournament.

It was only 19 days ago that Eterna’s manager, Myra Davis, announced that the team was looking for an org to sponsor them.

She promised: “we’re ready to give the big orgs a run for their money,” and FlyQuest listened.

FlyQuest join LEC partners G2 Esports, SK Gaming, and Team Vitality who all had their womens rosters invited.

However, for now, FlyQuest is only supporting Eterna for this one tournament. It isn’t a permanent position.

The organisation announced news on social media and said:

“We’re excited for what this team will accomplish and see growth and potential in these players.”

The news comes a little over a week since FlyQuest’s male toplaner Gabriël ‘Bwipo’ Rau was suspended for making sexist comments on his stream.

It’s unlikely any of the Eterna players will want to film content with Bwipo, considering his beliefs on menstruation.

Despite what Bwipo make think, Eterna’s roster appears to be playing with great composure and perfectly regulated emotions.

What teams are competing at the inaugural LoL Game Changers Rising EMEA?

As mentioned previously, LGC has three LEC partners in G2 Hel, Vitality Rising Bees, and SK Avarosa.

LoL betting sites have G2 Hel as heavy favourites for the tournament.

Hel made history after becoming the only women’s team to ever qualify for the second tier of a regional league.

Meanwhile, Eterna had to qualify for LGC the hard way; clawing their way into the event via the Open Qualifiers.

After finishing too low at the Equal Esports Cup, Zerance Bloom took the same route, winning all their qualifier games but the final versus Eterna.

But there were three teams who did perform well enough at the Equal Esports Cup to qualify.

The highlight of those three is Solary Academy, who caused a few upsets at the tournament to reach the final before losing to G2 Hel.

Nexus Reapers qualified too after reaching Round 2 of the Playoffs and caught the eye of organisation Blue Otter, who have now acquired the team.

And finally, there’s Gallions Pearl, the sister team of the LFL roster in France, who were eliminated from the Equal Esports Cup by Vitality.
